The Louisiana Sheriff's Association controls politics in this state. They hold the Governors' strings. If a few more sheriffs get on board, this thing is over.

I tried warning you bunch of goons about this weeks ago

Sheriffs need to take a stand

Like I said in a previous thread, I’m opening my gym tomorrow and limiting it to 10 people at a time. I don’t give a frick what JBE says anymore.

Are you going to have time limits and list? First come, first serve? I’m curious how various gyms will approach this. It’s not an easy thing.

It’s going to get ugly. I see JBE pushing back the open date of 5/15.

Most state constitutions allow the governor to remove elected officials, including a sheriff. That includes Louisiana. Could if be challenged? Sure, and it has been. And nearly always, the levels of government to hear those challenges will side with the governor. If JBE wants to enforce this, he will. If he backs down, it's because of politics, not because he doesn't have any authority over sheriffs in his state.

This x1000, all they had to do is wait it out another 2 weeks and the fed guidelines would have opened us on May 15th.

Now the numbers will go up just enough to push it to June, and honor code might do it anyway as to assert his power.

If a few more parishes follow suit, we are all going to pay, just like we did already because of Orleans and Jefferson.

I dont think so man, i think if he tries to push it to June, you are going to have more parishes doing this exact thing... JBE knows that. Sadly everything from him looks more to be about power and not about "safety"

Two more weeks would be devastating for a lot of residents and businesses.

Might head down that way for an Italian Burrito at Sonny’s

Is Sonny's still open? We used to go across the river when i was a kid, when we'd go tour the plantations in St. Francisville. Sonny's Italian Burrito was my favorite.

I’d love to see where in the constitution a governor can remove a sheriff in Louisiana

You think he’s not going to use Memorial Day as an excuse?

So has there been any evidence of these parishes being open today?
I’m up for a road trip if so

Ok. I just don’t get how at almost anytime you go to a walk mart or Home Depot now you have trouble finding a parking spot. That means the place is crawling with people. Yet you can’t go eat dinner inside a restaurant????? This has gone on long enough...... most people will be smart about things anyway because a risk is still there. But come on man it’s time to get people back to work and out in public.
