He did stumble a little after crossing the water. Not sure if he had injuries or not. They have tough skin

But their skin is so thick and loose that they can let big cats bite down on em and be like "Now what, MFER?". Then they wriggle loose and run away.

He wasn’t really in a hurry to run away lol. And when he trotted off, he had a bounce in his step like he actually enjoyed that. Crazy bastard.

Thought it was interesting that they went with the Hollywood approach to a gang fight. Let's have 3 people attack one, but we'll do it 1 at a time because all 3 going at it would be unfair.

Leopards bite through and rip open caymen and alligators. Their bite strength easily crushes bone. I'm pretty sure they were just playing around with the badger or the mother was teaching the cubs something.

Talking to a former South African the other day about the aggravating deer eating up our neighborhood, he started telling me about the animals over there. They could stop everything, including elephants bent on tearing things up, except leopards. They could never stop leopards from getting under, over, or around any type of exclosure. They were coming for the dogs no matter what. From 5 pound terriers to 100 pound labs. They would get in, grab them, and carry them off like they were toys.

I’m pretty sure Randall said something about how thick their hide was in the infamous video.

Audubon Zoo officials would agree with this.

Are leopards in Kruger evolving/adapting to work cooperatively? Because they're normally solitary. Unless that is a mother and 2 adolescent cubs.

That was weird seeing 3 leopards that size working together.

Darn, I thought that honey badger was done for several times...at first especially when two of them were pulling on both ends. I am shocked the leopards didn't have enough jaw strength to finish the job but it did look like they were not adults yet either. Grasshoppers got some kill shot learning to do.

Edit...after seeing it again I did notice that it appears to be a mama and two cubs but still...surprised it went the way it did.

I don't know much about a honey badger's hide or fur

they have incredibly thick hide and a large subcutaneous layer filled with fat. it makes their hide very mobile compared to ours. their musculature and skeletal systems can move within the hide very easy. it makes biting and gripping them very hard. its one of their key defenses.

Yeah I don't buy that the Leopards were just playing with it. Maybe they did a risk analysis mid-fight and kind of gave up, but I think that they really wanted to kill the badger.
