So you're blaming the grandparents for the failure of their grandchildren? You're not too smart are you.

Boomers are parents to millennials. Gen x are parents to gen z mostly with some overlap of older gen x with younger millennials.

It's that a stressor? Where would you rank it? Worse than the Great Depression but not as bad as losing your keys?

where did boomers go wrong

The easier question to answer is “what did boomers get right”

so you're mad at millennials for having easy lives? If these are their most stressful issues it sounds like they are doing things right.

How is that funny? Gen x is 30 years older than millennials when you compare the oldest of the former to the youngest of the latter. Flip that and it's under 5 years depending on the source.

You think gen x compromises the majority of millennial parents?

The millennials just outrank everyone else in crappiness.

These conversations have always gone this way because humans are adaptable to the situation and each generation has a different situation to adapt to. It's an undeniable fact that the latest generation is softer than the previous generation simply because as humanity advances living/survival gets easier.

Just because living/survival gets easier though doesn't mean life gets easier. I don't think it's accurate to call these "self inflicted" stressors as some in this thread have. For old people their lives don't need all of this technology in it. Young people however, their entire world is built around it. I just read an article on how kids are getting around phone bans by using relatively unknown features in Google Docs to "pass notes". Using more technology isn't a "choice" for this generation any more than choosing color TV over black and white, or TV over radio was a "choice" for a previous generation at some point.

Maybe they are being stupid by being so reliant on predatory and gamified social media platforms, but it's easy for someone a few generations removed to say "Getting stressed over that seems really stupid, here's how I'd have handled that, I just wouldn't use social media." For these younger generations not using social media would be like if an adult in the 70's was "stressed" over making a long distance phone call during the day because of the cost and their grandpa told them "It's silly to be stressed about that, don't make phone calls, back in my day we would just write letters to each other."

3 In 5 Millennials Say Life More Stressful Now Than Ever Before

Millenials are 22-37 years old. Many are reaching their peak earning years.

Life should be more stressful now than ever before - especially for those born before 1990.

Many good points. Sadly only about 5 of us have the attention span to read that much.

I'm a Boomer with 17 year old children. I need someone to tell me where my hearing aids and glasses are, then I'll find my keys and phone.

That is not what this thread is about. It is about them complaining that their lives are the most stressful ever because their cell battery is low, along with other inconsequential minutiae.

Many fine posters have pointed out things from history that were obviously worse than "choosing what to wear". Some have said that not living through historically bad times negates the ability to compare them to today's stressors.
