Those are some high end investment properties, not what I would go into if I had that kind of money. Hopefully, they are investments and not one for mom, one for his buddy, etc.

If I had that kind of windfall, a high rise apartment building or two would definitely be part of my portfolio. Those are cash machines.

I'm watching Caleb Hammer get audited right now (by Graham Stephan) and they're talking about how difficult it is to do properly w/his income (gross for his business 6-figures/mo) and that's about 100x less than what we're talking about here

I love all the responses in this thread. People talking about what the would do with nearly a billion the same as if they inherited $500k from a rich uncle.

I already have II allocated.

$3 m house in Kauai
$3 m house on Longboat Key
$3 m house in a ski town out west
$3 m house on Lake Burton
$2 m condo around Clearwater
A couple hundred acres in various locations for hunting and fishing.

I think I could satisfy all of my desires for less than $20m. Just bounce around to all my houses, fish, hunt, golf.

I'd get me a stocked fishin pond in Bunkie and get some new tires on the F150, I reckon. Maybe head out to Gulf Shores and stay across the highway from Hangout

I remember when this powerball was going my managing partner said he would still come to work if he won.

Idk if that’s good and that he truly loves doing this shite every day or if that’s depressing because he couldn’t come up with anything better to do if he could (for all intents) do almost anything else he could dream of.

Everyone says that bullshite and its never true.

They don't want to psychologically disconnect from their life for a dream that isn't likely to happen.

He should invest in some newer commercial real estate and pay someone who knows what they're doing to manage the portfolio for him, actually.

I would make a great billionaire. If that honor was ever bestowed on me, I would make you all proud with my largesse.

People talking about quitting their jobs... managing the people you'd have to hire to manage your $690M would be a fulltime job.

Considering mostly everyone has to finance their home(s), he is buying his in cash I would assume. I don’t see the issue. He can afford it.

We can argue if it’s smart or not but its his money…

I laughed and said he’d never lay eyes on me again if I won.

I said I’d be out skiing or driving racecars or flying to europe for dinner. He gave me a look like I just shot his dog.

With that much money, you almost don't have to invest at all beyond some basic bonds and high yield accounts.

At 3 percent interest, that's about $25 million per year forever.

Sounds like divesting to me. People are leaving California in droves. Tax rates are crazy. The gov. wants to give taxpayer money to blacks, which would result in a huge surge in need tax revenue.

It is not generally a good idea to invest in real-estate where everyone is fleeing. And instead invest in the places they are fleeing to.

If I had his cash and wanted to invest in real estate, I'd go the development route. Buy 50 acres, build 200 houses, sell at a profit, then move on.

while of course you would make money doing that, it also adds a lot of time and stress to your life doing this.

I"m not adding stress to my life.
I can travel, fish, hunt, play golf, play other sports, hike, do anything leisurely that i enjoy for the rest of my life and never have to worry about money.

Now had i won something like $20M after taxes, then yeah, maybe i look into doing things like this and grow the wealth so that there's money left for my kids and grandkids, b/c i plan on spending the majority of it if it's just $20M.
But almost $700m after taxes? frick that. I don't need to try to make more money at that point.

I think that I would keep working but I do enjoy helping people and I feel like I do that and at less money than most other lawyers charge, so I feel good about that, too. I would certainly be more selective in my cases and likely charge less, or set up a non-profit legal services or something.

My life is kind of set up nice being super flexible and where I can turn the stress lever down. The trade off is I don't make OT baller money, so winning the lotto would solve that issue.

I'd also play a shite ton of poker.

Or I'd buy another company or try to build them. Maybe become an investor in tech. I wouldn't just be representing poor people in Calcasieu Parish.
