What's interesting is that by all accounts, before Hogan called Bischoff and told him he would be the third man, it was originally supposed to be Sting

No it was Hogan’s role. Bischoff wasn’t sure if Hogan would go through with it and if he didn’t, he would give it to Sting. Hogan called him day off and told him he was in.

Larry Zbyszko turned on Bruno Sammartino it was also huge. Led to their steel cage match at Showdown at Shea in 1980, where ironically, Andre pinned Hogan.

My first non mid-south wrestling memory was Zbyszko “buying” a belt from “Killer” Brooks. Need to look up that angle on YouTube now

To many fans in the southern US, Hogan was always a heel. This just confirmed his heel status.

Hogan slamming Andre at WM3 is the most iconic moment in wrestling history.

And it was all a lie......fitting for Hogan.

If John Cena would have ever turned, it would have been huge. Bigger than possibly Hogan. Heck we saw Reigns finally turned and it was incredible.

Absolute brilliance by Eric Bischoff.

People forget that Hogan didn't want to do it originally. So they had Sting lined up to turn heel. Hogan finally agreed to it but how would wrestling history of looked had Sting went to the NWO instead of Hogan?

Most important moment in wrestling history. No Hogan heel turn means no Stone Cold or The Rock. Sure Steve Austin and Rocky Maivia would be rostered, but with no Attitude. WCW forced Vince to go another direction that America was clamoring for.

I'm convinced the 90s were peak humanity

Yep.

A lot of people don't realize just how close Bischoff came to putting Vince out of business.
