I’m glad someone else linked the story, Bc OP is useless. And then I had to google Sterlington Bc where the frick is Sterlington. You’re better than this, OP.
I purposely didn't link it, so you would have to Google it.
Now you you know where this event took place.

It was blue collar white when my dad bought in '83. We took flight in '96. Pretty sure my parents sold the 2 story house for less than they bought it for. Very white. *curtsey*
Happens everywhere. And yet we’re still racist when we don’t want Section 8 in our neighborhoods.

In the late 80’s I was in the yard going through ATV maintenance with my dad and my new Kawasaki ATV 3-wheeler (last year they made 3-wheelers), when Exxon exploded causing us to jump and look around.

Meh, that happened every five years or so down in Chalmette. Toughen up Nancy.

The apartment managers laughed at me in Naples, FL when I first moved here and asked if they accepted Section 8. Of course they don't.

He was worried that a high pressure plastics reactor had blown. Apparently that would be like a small nuke going off.
If one of those things goes off, you'll know. It will rearrange a lot of stuff in that part of town.

It’s amazing the sound could break windows but didn’t break your eardrums.
You do realize that sound doesn't. An explosion creates a pressure wave that goes out first. That's what broke the windows

Watched it. Damn. They were hell bent to bust some looters in NBR. Doubt you’d hear it framed that way in 2018.

Sad day for that small town. One who died was Jim Shipp the plant manager who I heard was running towards the explosion when the first signs of a fire broke out. They now honor him with an annual award up there.

An uncontrolled release of pressure and fire.

This must be the plant right there on the water, next to the bridge, right? I'm pretty new up here and that is about the only industry I've seen around here, except for the paper mill in West Monroe.

That’s a fact. Great man and a great family. I remember the explosion and aftermath vividly. I was at OPJH at the time.
