You can't come here looking for a job one day and then admit to being a raging alcoholic the next.

These things don't really add up. I'm sure you don't think drinking has gotten in the way of your job.

You’re an alcoholic bud. You need to quit. I can’t even imagine how much money you’re blowing weekly.

Drinking definitely ain't helping, but do you drink energy drinks? Specifically "sugar free" ones with artificial sweeteners like sucralose?

40-50 beers is too many per week, and in the long run is likely to cause damage, but not cirrhosis at your age. But I'm no doctor.

If you're concerned, stop drinking for awhile and get your health in check. If you can't "stay stopped", you've got a problem, and can come sit join the sober side of the OT. There are a few of us.

Not making excuses for the guy, but if he's talking about beer, that's two cases a week.. $40-50

Hopefully you decided to quit before you developed cirrhosis. Turn this scare into something and stop drinking. You are probably an alcoholic and it won't turn out good for you if you don't. I had to get a liver transplant at 39 because I didn't quit earlier when I had the chance.

Yeah, drinking that much probably has repercussions. Why would you think this is okay? Why continue?

Probably all that’s wrong with him is he’s fat from all the calories

Stop now because the fat takes forever to lose. It also messes up your insulin sensitivity so you eat worse all the time. You’re drinking because you’re bored. Go to the gym like 2 hours a day and develop an eating disorder

Find some hobby where you can talk to women on weeknights. That ones hard I haven’t figured it out yet

This is the way it is dude. If we had fun manufacturing jobs in the 50s we’d expend calories at work and drink with the boys at the bowling alley and not be fat and have not fat wives and we’d be fulfilled. But the boomers took that away when they voted for nafta

I probably drank 40 drinks a week over that span. I kept up with that pace throughout college.

Could be worse.

I kept that pace from 2005 until 2014 or so. Only it was more than that.... A lot more than that.

Quit drinking and eat foods high in choline.

The more I read the less I felt sorry for you but I am human and don’t want to see you suffer. Stop drinking right now and never go back to it. For fricks sake, man. Damn.

I had a 32 year old cirrhosis patient recently. She drank similar to you. Her liver flat out quit and they wouldn’t put her on the transplant list so they sent her to palliative care. Just quit drinking. Like her, you’re slowly committing suicide. She needs daily blood transfusions as well. No advice to give except to get off the booze. I’m not saying you have cirrhosis, but you’re well on your way. Get into AA, clean yourself up, and take a shitload of milk thistle and liver health supplements

Are you sure it isn’t heartburn, but yea. Professional help to quit would be a wise thing to consider.

This!

I am not a doctor. However, heartburn and/or acid reflux can provide a series of symptoms similar to what you have described.

I think it is great that you have the self-awareness to seek help. Tomorrow is a new day! Move forward and make the necessary changes to your lifestyle as needed.

Prayers sent. Take care!

Cirrhosis is not a diagnosis made by blood work but by tissue examination in concordance with imaging.

Yeah but couldn’t blood work identify high enzyme counts, which could be a sign of liver damage?

how do you know? He used the term drinks. Never heard some refer to beer as drinks. Usually they say I have 40-50 beer a week.
