That’s not too bad.

5'8" 175 is on the hefty side. Wouldn't hurt to lose 10-15 lbs.

He is 2 inches taller and 20 lbs lighter than the rest of South Louisiana, and he drinks less.

The rest of South Louisiana is morbidly obese. Being less unhealthy doesn't make you healthy.

No, my math was indeed wrong. I had a brain fart and calculated 45 beers a day instead of 45 beers per week.

But if the calculations that you did are mathematically correct, then your math was not incorrect. It's your premise that was flawed. It was not 45 beers a day. It was 45 beers a week.

Come on, guy. Focus

Averaging over 12 drinks a day every week for 8 years is a drinking problem any way you slice it. You say it never cause any issues at work but there is most likely another side to that story. You gotta quit drinking. The damage is done but cutting back is only going to continue the pattern. Gotta quit altogether. AA seems to work for a lot of people. Whatever it takes you gotta quit altogether.

My maternal grandfather died of cirrhosis at 23. Son of a moonshiner and bootlegger and apparently they drank about as much as they sold. Most of the family claims he died of natural causes or some such shite but his Mother never let any of them get away with it...she would straighten them out quickly since almost all of them were heavy drinkers. Alcoholism is bad for the alcoholic....it is FAR worse for the people who care about them. It is a selfish and cowardly act. Quit before more damage is done, not only to you but those who care about you.

I put my body through a lot more than that and for much longer than that. The liver is an incredibly resilient organ. unless you have some other underlying condition that could cause it being compromised then i doubt you have cirrhosis. With that level of drinking, i bet you have some form of GI upset like ulcers. Where is the "burning" exactly, left side right side? worse at certain times or during certain activities? Everybody is different though so no guarantees.

All aside though, if you're concerned about you're own drinking then you're drinking too much. Are you physically addicted? have withdrawal symptoms when not drinking during the week? if not get it under control before you do. it makes quitting so much harder. I would suggest seeking some form of aid. AA is good for some people and its always free. I personally never liked AA and hated going to meetings. i found counseling and therapy more useful. Got figure out why youre drinking so much other than "i just like to drink". thats a BS answer. once you figure that out work on that.

anyway my 2 cents, take it or leave it.

Burning is on the right side. It comes and goes. Some days don’t notice it some days it’s there for a little bit.

Alcoholic hepatitis. I had it. The pain was insufferable. For perspective I’m only 34. I immediately quit drinking for 3 months. Started again with beer and I will do the occasional shot but I don’t consume nearly as much as I used to. I also stop drinking brown liquor completely. Haven’t had any pain in a few years but I still have a fatty liver.

Yeah this thread got me thirsty. I think I'll go over my usual daily beer intake of 8 today and make it 10-12.

Either join AA, or take it slow to limit yourself. One proposed rule of thumb - you’re not allowed to drink by yourself. That way, you’re not drinking at home alone and will only have a drink in social settings. I’ve heard that’s a really good way to go to start.
