Burning is on the right side. It comes and goes. Some days don’t notice it some days it’s there for a little bit.

I go through phases. Sometimes I grab a case of Michelob, sometimes I grab a case of Coors. I used to drink Busch and Natty when I was a little younger.

For liquor, I typically will reach for vodka when I do drink liquor. Every now and then I’ll drink some Blantons or Four Roses. But liquor isn’t my go to.

No reason to be dishonest. I drink 40-50 drinks a week in a 3 day span. Dont touch the hard stuff except for every few weeks I’ll drink a couple of whiskey cokes.

27 year old cirrhosis

Hey OT,

To give everyone some back story, I recently became concerned with the levels of my drinking due to an occasional light burning sensation just under my rib cage.

My drinking started out around 19 when I was in college. I drank Friday, Saturday and Sunday to get drunk. I couldn’t put a number on it but I probably drank 40 drinks a week over that span. I kept up with that pace throughout college.

Fast forward to after college and I continued to drink at the 40-50 drink a week pace for the past few years. Just recently I started having a very light burning sensation that comes and goes occasionally under my ribs. Other than that, I hadn’t experienced any other symptoms other than putting on some more lbs over the past years.

This prompted me to schedule a doctors appointment to get some bloodwork. I am scared to death that I have cirrhosis as I’ve been a 40-45 drinks a week drinker for the past 8 years. This has been a huge wake up call for me to get sober. To add injury to insult, I also recently lost my job. Drinking has never caused me any issues with work though.

Hopefully my blood work comes back not so bad.

Edit: my drink of choice is typically a light beer. Whiskey every now and then. To clarify, the 40 drinks a week are drank between Friday and Sunday. I don’t drink during Monday - Thursday.

Appreciate any thoughts or advice.
Just to clarify I was Big 4 prior to being at this company. Big 4 for 2.5 years and this one for 1.5
I was never told why and was never on a PIP, but I do feel as though they let me go for performance. I was ex-big 4 and came in with a higher salary than some of my peers. As such, I think they had a little higher expectations from me. The firm I went to was a regional firm.
Nola. I’ve been looking at everything including remote work. Most of my experience is in SOX controls testing, ITGCs, and risk and compliance for medium sized companies.
Hi all,

I was recently let go from my job as an internal auditor. Pretty shaken up about it as this is my first time experiencing something like this. I only have about 4 years of experience and most of it is at the senior level. The company said they were “going in a different direction” and “they didn’t see the need for my services going forward”. The company is a well respected public accounting firm.

Out of curiosity, what is the job market out there like for the industry. Don’t have a CPA, but I am currently pursing the CIA and hopefully the CISA after. I’m scared shiteless that it’ll be forever before I find anything given how things are going in this economy. Wife works but her income alone will not cut it. Have about 6 months saved up in emergency funds and about 6 more months if I pulled out of my 401k but obviously I don’t want to do that.

Edit: I was never told why and was never on a PIP, but I do feel as though they let me go for performance. I was ex-big 4 and came in with a higher salary than some of my peers. As such, I think they had a little higher expectations from me. The firm I went to was a regional firm

Appreciate any all insight or just anyone who wants to calm my nerves.

FWIW, I’ve noticed my company issues them with a deadline. For example I saw one dude get one and they called it a 4 month PIP. He survived. At other places though, I’ve seen it more so as a final warning to get your shite packed and a courtesy to find another job before you get fired.
Typically, do you see this only go to what is considered “low performers” or is it often given to other employees as well just to save arse when they let go of said employee?

I know every company uses this differently but in my experience they typically end up being dished out to the low performers. I haven’t come across someone who was surprised they were put on one.

It's gotta be Wiseman. Adding a big that could run the floor in Gentry's offense would be invaluable. I understand that Hayes fits that mold of that but he is a project and his upside on the offensive end is limited. When you look at the future of this current lineup, adding someone like Wiseman would really complete the puzzle.
It was pretty clear how much better we were last year in the paint with Kavell. Having a 7 footer that can control the paint is so valuable in college basketball.
I think the most realistic chance of us drafting any LSU players would be in us getting either Clyde or Thad. Payton and Loomis have displayed in recent years that they are mostly concerned with drafting the best overall player. Considering that we will have to either pay Kamara or watch him walk after this year, I'd like to think we could find use in another running back. Peyton has shown that he isn't going to over pay for a RB anyways.

Shoutout Dell Demps

I appreciate the fact that he knows he doesn't do well with the draft so he trades our picks for well established players like Jrue Niko and Boogie
With Drew still here and considering the season we had last year, we shouldn't be drafting anyone that isnt going to help us win a superbowl next year. Need to take full advantage of Drew's last few years
