Went ten days without power after Andrew... when it finally came back on the eleventh day I thought I had died and gone to heaven.

We lost power just south of Natchitoches last night about 8. Left there at 10 this morning and still no power. I have a feeling when we go back up there in two weeks the fridge is going to need to be emptied.

My parents were without power after Rita for 30 days. Ran a portable diesel generator the entire time keeping fridge and freezers going. Ran small ac units at night. Was a helluva time.

10 days for Rita in some sweltering heat. I have little sympathy for anyone's lack of power unless they live in a third world country

Yep. We watched it move across the oxbow. By the time it got to us the wind had to be blowing 50 mph.

It can't be that bad if you're able to post here. Pretend you're camping.

Its funny. About 6 months after Katrina we had a pretty bad thunderstorm kill power to our neigborhood. Within 5 minutes 90% of the houses has a generator going. Power was out for 45 min max.

I'm not sure there's a better feeling than the power coming back on after its been out for a week.

You should go ride the rails.

I heard it's breezy hitching a ride on a boxcar.

I never had sex with an OT-10, but one night I had five OT-2s ... I think that should count.
