This was in Whitmar, which is right off of campus and a nice neighborhood. Sad to see/hear.
Update: They released the name, and said he was from Independence.

Them LA law enforcement dudes on Killing Fields better get to work.

That's why you have a gun in your house. You can kill the killers before they kill you.

My thought exactly when I read the story this morning. When I saw the headline I assumed it was in the bottoms. Must be first murder in that part of town in 50 years.

Perhaps...but that's 45 minutes away from their jurisdiction.

There are now 2 sides to whimar. Apartments and sketchy side, and nice older homes with older people. My friend's apt got broken into multiple times a couple of years ago, so she moved out. Blame it on Cherry st.
From what I'm hearing, the suspect is from Independence.

Isn't this close to the railroad tracks? And doesn't it get very dark on the other side of those railroad tracks?

Poor kid, RIP. I could not think of a worst place to spend my last few hours in than Hammond.

Yeah my friend just told me that it happened in the apartments, which are on the crappy side. The riff raff used to stay on the other side of Cherry St. or across the interstate, and all the neighborhoods around campus were nice and safe, hope that isn't changing.

Well duh, you have the "third world" right there off of Cherry St. The kind of weird thing is its not nearly as bad in that area as it was 20 years ago. But the bad shite never crossed the tracks, seems like is now.
