This is why terrorism will never end, because you want to do this, breed more and more generations of hate because you dont care who we kill as long as it looks like them. I'm all for going after those responsible, but you're just making the next man up with the way you're okay with doing things. The only way to eradicate ISIS or make it not be able to have the influence it does is put boots on the ground and eradicate them one by one which in these days just simply isn't acceptable to the American population with the casualties that will come it. Just cant really win either way.
There is no point in putting boots on the ground when we can take them out with no American casualties. War with these asshats has no rules. We won't win by following rules while they don't.

Was this guy a citizen or an immigrant? There were reports he was from a normal middle class area of a Manchester.

Putting boots on the ground is an even worse solution. That will not only result in the untold civilian casualties that we'd have anyway but in the deaths of thousands upon thousands of Americans. Which is what we're trying to avoid or prevent in the first place, right?

That's a bit much. I fully understand they cannot be avoided in some cases, but I'd like to think we're at least trying to limit the impact on civilians.
If you're the a Western government, their civilians aren't as valuable as yours. If they want to use civilians as cover, that's unfortunate but the bloodshed is on them.

It doesn't matter either way. He was a soldier of ISIS.

This is beyond impossible with social media and the free flow of live information.
Had this been 50-60 years ago, yes. Today? Absolutely impossible.

what?
everything you just said actually makes it easier
now the kids in villages have access to new and different information instead of just what their crazy uncle is telling them
they didn't have that chance 50-60 years ago
btw, this all has to start with the moderate muslims though, they absolutely need to step the frick up

You have no idea what you are talking about. These are people who literally live among the regular population in Syria. They take over towns and cities and the civilian population is right there still. You cant just drop a bunch of bombs on innocent people caught up in their mess. How would you feel if there was an extremist group that took over your town with all your family and friends still there and our government decided to eradicate the whole place by dropping a nuke on it? Easy way out, generations of hate bred.
Again, only way to make sure things are taken care of is getting your hands dirty and making sure of it, with minimal civilian casualties and trying to build a good relationship with them, not one where the next guy up will be bringing down a building in a few years because we bombed his whole family while he was out working on his farm.

That is why we kill them en masse over there and not allow them the time to fight us over here.

I understand that, I just take issue with the comment that we shouldn't worry about civilian casualties. We should worry about it, and take every reasonable measure to avoid it, but we also need to understand it is unavoidable at times.

Bomb the strongholds and secure our border. That's about all we can do without just rolling through the Middle East like Rommel. Take out their defacto leaders black ops style to try and destabilize them. The only way to totally end Islamic terrorism is to somehow bring that backward arse religion out of the dark ages and join the rest of us in the present. I have zero clue how to accomplish that.

Ok, we get it. Everyone in here has an idea on how to eradicate terrorism.
Quick question about the attack, because I haven't watched the news. Was this guy born in the Middle East or was a UK citizen who turned?

CBS News can now confirm authorities believe the suspect responsible for the deadly Manchester Arena attack is 23-year-old Salman Abedi.
Authorities said the suspect is known to them, but wouldn’t release further details.
Is this supposed to make it better or worse?

Nothing has been released one way or the other yet, to my knowledge.

we don't know yet
I know people want him to be an immigrant so they can push political narratives, but to me, a citizen turning is far more frightening

Sigh. Saying oh hey, achmed, here's a coke. Wanna watch Netflix? Isn't going to fix anything.
The free flow of information does make it easier for the leaders of these groups to reach the disenfranchised. It allows them to spread their message worldwide.
It allows the new leader to immediately pick up where the old leader left off, whether they are a mile away or across the globe.

Exactly. The problem was centralized 50-60 years ago. Now the problem is in a basement in your city instead of some far off village where they use a community rag to wipe their asses.

if that were true, we would all be dead
