There is NO WAY this was drug related.

These are fricking heartless animals that need to be eradicated

Sorry for you and your friend's loss. It wasn't mistaken identity or some drug deal fantasyland story.

I believe people are trying to rationalize it away because they feel this could never happen to them or their family

It has nothing to do with LSU

LSU is in Baton Rouge. This happened in Baton Rouge. When people think of LSU, they think of Baton Rouge.

For a person considering which school to send their kid to, you don't think they consider the city where the school is located?

Beyond depressing that the leadership in this city believes the way to curb this is through more community involvement

This may truly be random, but people are saying drugs because every year without fail a couple LSU students are killed and the news/parents act as though it’s random when the true story is they were dealing or buying.

Yes. And our city leaders need to make sure our officers police the frick out of the areas near LSU. This obviously includes Tigerland, which isn't exactly close to campus either, but it's extremely popular with students.

No excuses. Clean out the criminal element and lock them up.

Especially Myrtle Walk. The area is ratchet as shite. Convention St hoodrats could also be involved in this homicide. Hopefully a plate can be found on surveillance, however I have a feeling if a plate is found it’ll come back as stolen and back to square one at getting this tPOS.

shouldn’t be required to have, the resources to fight crime outside of the area.

I wasn't implying it was LSU's fault, so sorry for the confusion. She was still a student and this is horrible PR for the university given this happened so close to campus and popular housing areas.

That’s the wrong side of Park, for sure.

100% robbery/carjacking and I'm 97% sure it's going to end up being a juvenile that has been arrested multiple times doing the same thing.

Hypothetically, if it was a "drug deal gone wrong", the dealer felt threatned he had to kill her?

LSU PD does not have jurisdiction in that area
The only time LSU PD can go off campus is when an investigation leads them to investigations off campus related to LSU crime
They are not even allowed to patrol streets off campus

Sure, but it's not directly related to LSU other than she happened to be a student there.

I hope they find the animals.

You have to go HAM when you gentrify. If you do it half assed, this is what you get - an area that's still dangerous but has the appearance of being safe because of all the new businesses.

When it comes to gentrification, Mr. Myagi said it best:

Daniel-san, must talk. Walk on road, hm? Walk left side, safe. Walk right side, safe. Walk middle, sooner or later, get squish just like grape. Here, karate, same thing. Either you karate do "yes", or karate do "no". You karate do "guess so", squish just like grape. Understand?

Let’s at least have another no murder weekend again

At least we have reputable journalists at the advocate and WBRZ to call out completely inept local leadership
