FYI... It is NOT a Jeep.
quote:
It may sound strange to build a truck that looks like a Jeep, is made by Jeep, and sold in Jeep dealerships, but it's not actually called a Jeep—yet that's exactly what's going on with the new Wagoneer and Grand Wagoneer. Look closely at the new ride, and there isn't a Jeep badge to found—not inside, not outside, not anywhere.
For reasons we'll explain, Jeep has decided to keep its name—an extremely strong brand in its own right—off of the new trucks' sheet metal. It's not because... uhh... they forgot; it's to do with marketing and branding.
And when we say it's to do with marketing and branding, what we really mean is that Stellantis doesn't feel that the Jeep name is becoming of a luxury vehicle. The Wagoneer and Grand Wagoneer are set to be the most expensive... uhhh... Jeep-looking cars not technically called Jeeps but sold by Jeep dealerships and made in Jeep factories... in history. Confused? Where's that one statement Jeep CEO at Stellantis, Christian Meunier, gave us? Ah, yes.
"The root of Jeep isn’t hidden but we believe there is a need to position it further with the more high-end Wagoneer. At the same time, it’s a combination of values that is a little different; it’s also adding tech, sophistication, and is an evolution from Jeep," said Meunier.
See? Makes total sense. Jeep doesn't really consider itself a premium brand, but Wagoneer and Grand Wagoneer? Now those are at the top of the pile. Even though the Jeep Grand Cherokee Trackhawk starts at nearly $90,000.
Back when FCA was still a thing—actually only like a few weeks ago—it did something similar with the Dodge Viper, creating the "SRT" brand because, apparently, selling a six-figure, 640-horsepower sports car with a storied history wasn't good for the Dodge brand. That time, Chrysler realized its silliness and reverted it back to a Dodge a few years later. Perhaps Stellantis will do the same this time.

Need all that power to get to travel ball practice

The Grand Wagoneer is meant to compete in the luxury market against the Navigator and Escalade. The regular Wagoneer is a tahoe/Yukon/Expedition competitor. This is the one you'll likely see the soccer moms in

Anyone on here own a Jeep Grand Cherokee, or Jeep product? Do you think reliability has improved? Are Hemi engines good?
I never owned one but have rode in them over the years. My perception is that they start having problems after a few years. Electrical, transmission, trim pieces falling off, paint peeling off the hood in chips.
It seems that the Grand Wagoneer has high quality materials to get past that. Its game looks improved.
I ask these questions because I always wanted to have one, but my perception of its reliability is garbage.

Without the wood paneling it is not a Grand Wagoneer.
The wood paneling on the old ones wasn't standard for the majority of it's run, it was an option. It was a very popular option no doubt but it was still just an option.

It just seems like at that price point you have much more awesome options.

Interior is nice.
Exterior - particularly the rear and the whole greenhouse - is kind of weird looking to me.

Love the interior but the cost is way to high for a Jeep as others have said. Feel there are much options for 100k

Ordered mine the other day. It is refundable before final order, but can any Jeep owners share some light on Jeep reliability? My Explorer is 9 years old and runs great with very minor issues along the way. I service my car meticulously.
It seems that they dumped a lot of money into the car to shed the image. They plan to have separate service waiting rooms exclusively for Grand Wag owners, and provide loaner car/do pickup for service. I figure if there are warranty issues I will always have access to a car.
The tow capacity and the space being larger than all SUVs besides the Escalade ESV and the Navigator L is the selling point above the Europeans and the Land Rovers.

I need one made of kryptonite. My wife can’t go 2 weeks without running over something. I have given up the idea of getting her Yukon to the body shop.

That’s an expensive bet.
I’d expect some issues: 1st model year + lots of electronics.
What about after the warranty?
I’m a Toyota guy and will get an extended warranty on my Land Cruiser before factory warranty is up. They put a lot of electronics in top of the line cars, and fixes aren’t cheap. I forewent the rear entertainment in our last purchase after seeing a dead screen was $7k.
I think the top model lines probably have more issues than a stripped down entry model, more bells and whistles to break.
