If you think it's been an unusually quiet hurricane season, you're right: The last time we went from July 15 through Aug. 19 with no named storms in the Atlantic was 1982, according to Colorado State University meteorologist Phil Klotzbach.

Could this be the calm before the storm?

History says yes: Over the years, the period from Aug. 20 through Sept. 11 marks the sharpest increase in named tropical systems in the Atlantic, AccuWeather said.

The latest hurricane forecast released Monday shows the rest of August appears to favor a quiet pattern for tropical storm and hurricane development in the Atlantic Basin, according to Colorado State.

Can we wait to taunt Mother Nature until the season is actually over?

Proving that there are way more factors in tropical storm formation than just warm water.

Hurricane Andrew was August 26th 1992. Louisiana landfall Article missed that storm.

Modeling out toward the middle of September is showing what would be a much more conducive regime over the tropical Atlantic.

Still, can't complain about the (likely) no tropical system August over the Atlantic.

The article is about named storms between July 15 and August 19.

August 26 comes after August 19.

The most recent hurricane that turned out to be a dud (already forgot the name of it) was one of the most entertaining on here that I can remember. Jokes about bread, milk, and other random stuff people would buy for storm prep. Ahhh

The experts stretched things to call it a hurricane.
