Life span is only a couple of hours max. If they don’t find soil, they die quickly.

It’s times like this that I’m thankful for my dyson handheld vacuum.

It will kill your cat.

Saw that on an episode of House

How exactly? I've been walking my dogs around the house pointing out termites for them to eat all night. Did the same thing last year.

I truly hate this time of year. I can't even sit on my couch and watch a movie in peace without a termite fluttering around in front the screen or landing on the couch next to me. I was out walking my dogs around dusk when the swarm came out for the night. Had them flying into my face, going down my shirt, etc. So miserable. Luckily my bedroom seems to be a safe haven... If I start feeling them on me in bed I'm going to lose my mind

I used one to get a bunch of them off of my computer desk, but I didn't wait until they were dead.

Formosan termites may not worry about moth holes in their sweaters, but they are the first insects discovered to fumigate their nests with naphthalene. Scientists have discovered that termites, like the Formosan Subterranean Termite (Coptotermes formosanus), produce naphthalene - a hydrocarbon - which they apparently use as a defense against natural enemies, such as ants.

how can you tell? I found about 50 wingless termites throughout my house this morning

If they are swarming from inside your house, typically it will be a whole lot more than 50. It will be hundreds at least.

I had always heard that if you have an infestation in your house there would be hundreds or even thousands swarming inside. However, a friend noticed last year around 10 flying around an upstairs lamp. The exit hole was found in an adjacent room where the wall meets the ceiling. The entrance point was where the AC piping entered the house. So I wouldn’t take the presence of any amount of winged termites inside a house lightly.

I put an illegal switch on my street light. Can now turn the street light on and off.
That helps a lot.

I generally find them coming through bathroom vents from outside. Cover those for a week or so during the swarms and I hardly see any.

Had a few in the garage tonight while I was lifting. Took a deep breath on my list rep while benching and swallowed one of the frickers.

None last night on the courts. They’re usually the worst out there with the lights. Maybe they haven’t really hit BR yet?

Pass Christian, MS got it on 5/5. We were camping and they were so thick. Also heard from others that Mandeville and Baton Rouge happened then as well.
