I haven't watched Idol in many years, but I listened to John Foster tonight after clicking on the links. He's good. Old soul, great voice and appears to have "it.". He nailed Conway Twitty's "Goodbye Time."

He actually sounds pretty good.
I think the winner will be that kid that wrote the song from the poem form his teacher whose kid was killed. He's really good. Especially for 17 years old.
