When Louisiana got into the lottery business around 1990ish, long before Powerball and MegaMillions were sold here, the first big single winner was an older dentist from Church Point. I think the jackpot was about $16 million, which was huge then. There was grumbling among the masses that it "wasn't fair" that he won because he was already well off. Some shite never changes.

I sure it was a little more than what he normally charges for setting up a partnership or LLC.

Why?

Sept of 1991... I will never forget that day.. Was A salesman and called on stores in the Morgan City area... Went to A usually pretty busy store and the scratch offs were there.. This chick bought like 25 tickets and didn't win shite... She then started complaining that she now has no money to buy Milk and food for her kids cause she spent all the money she had on those lotto tickets... UNREAL...

Even worse is that the traffic was so bad around that store that I got into A wreck trying to leave.........

Doesn't matter where they're from. They just have to make the claim in Louisiana.

Wonder what the shite bag attorney gets for 15 minutes of work, he probably asked for 1/3.

why get a lawyer involved for a partnership. You live in Eunice. give me $50 and 30 minutes and I could give you the names of the winners.

If the winners were stupid enough to pay the lawyer like a contingency case, then I hope he got 1/3. But he most likely didn't. He quoted an hourly rate and might have even ballparked about how long the work might take.

Not all lawyers are shysters and it's really not that hard to find one who is competent and won't immediately try to bend you over.

My buddy was his attorney until he won the powerball. Texted him 2 weeks prior to winning. I guess he got spooked out and went outside. Can't blame the guy.

You can, but a legal name change is public record.

I can assure you the lawyer is getting paid by the hour if he's a good lawyer (which with this kind of money I'd think he would be).

He might by charging $400+/hr, but he's not getting a percentage.

Why is the Powerball still at $250M if the winning ticket was claimed at $191M a couple days ago?
