All part of the plan: Unreliable electricity and no space.
You will live in the pod.
You will eat the bugs.
You will sit in the dark.
You will own nothing.
And you will be happy.

Proximity to demand like others said, but I agree we shouldn't be using potential farmland for this. Solar panels go on rooftops, land area which is already in use for other purposes. It has the bonus side effect of preventing some energy from getting inside the structure so we don't have to expend more energy removing it. Also it doesn't get any closer to the point of demand than on the fricking roof.

Are the Tesla roof panel things catching on anywhere? I am in complete agreeance with you that they should be placed on rooftops of all large commercial and residential buildings.

Elon has got it figured out. You can buy his electric car, charge it at your home powered by his solar roof and watch porn on the internet provided by his starlink.
Yeah but you gotta wonder why he's so adamant about moving to Mars

Why not load up deserts with solar panels before ever putting them on fertile, forested lands?
Because there are no power lines or sub-stations to get the energy onto the grid?

A) Does anyone know what the state/federal incentives look like for these companies?

B) Are these companies expected to be able to sell their electricity at a competitive price to the local electric companies?

C) Is this a big play that regulations will come in that require a certain percentage of the electricity that the electric companies buy has to be "green"?

90% sure the one near New Roads is in the False River watershed.

So I hope they have a plan to keep the mercury and toxic crap from washing into the lake.

Just hope to god that no storm breaks those panels and that shite leaks into the ground.

Modern modules are incredibly strong. They'll fly away before they break up. Also, the operator is going to come in replace them because 1) they have insurance and 2) they need to meet their generation obligations.

Some sales guy called me several times inquiring if we would consider doing this on some land we own in N Louisiana.

I finally told him to bug off

Fed is a 30% FMV ITC that the "owner" gets. I say that because the "owner" is never who you think it is. You only see the operator, not the tax equity investor. It's a big bank i'm sure (JPM, BoA, etc.)

Yes, its market PPA pricing.

Some states are doing that with REC programs and other things. It just depends. La isn't playing that game yet and i doubt it will, similarly to Texas.

Not sure. They're pretty pricey so it would only make sense if you need a new roof anyway and if your electricity bill can be eliminated or reduced enough to pay off in a decade.

We need a lot more competition in this space and I'm looking forward to the day that solar shingles are a standardized commodity.

Yeah. In places where people are rich AF and can afford them. There's a waiting list in Palm Beach.

These are going to turn into mini superfund sites off over the land.

This, those things will be leaking some nasty shite.

Just genius of our politicians to subsidize these solar farms so much that they’ll be replacing crop land all over the country.

The project will create over 100 construction jobs to go along with a core management team of 35-45 people behind the project.

All of which will leave upon completion of the project leaving a minuscule amount of permanent jobs.

Property owners choice, but a poor one IMO. Nothing better than rendering land unusable when your economy is compromised and you may need it for ag purposes later. Especially when you’re doing so in the name of solar power.
fricking clown world, shite show.

They are trying to lease our ranch down in Texas for $1200 an acre per year for 25 to 30 years. That’s with a 3% annual increase.

That's a ridiculous amount of money for that period of time.

I have a couple hundred acres in North La I would happily lease to them for that sort of deal (as long as it included language mandating that they return the land to its original condition if they decide to abandon the project).
