Too many variables still. State law, for one. But aside from castle doctrine differences, I assume it'd depend on how reasonable the apprehension of serious bodily injury/death was in light of being inside your house, aggressors being outside, etc.

I heard one person say the cop should’ve fired a warning (incredibly risky and dumb especially in a neighborhood) or used a taser. Plenty of people have the mentality that cops can never ever be justified in a shooting.

How can we have a frickING VIDEO that clearly shows the Police Officer being a frickING HERO...
And the President of the United States of America just disregards it entirely and makes this statement purely to appease absolute lunatics?

It's really bad. There are genuinely no backstops of reason anymore. No greedy corporations keeping things in check, etc.
Trump's WH said absurd shite. 99/100 it was absurd shite with no real world consequence other than to make journalists fume. This WH likely just:
- Sent at least a few businesses up in flames
- Inspired a number of police forces to lose officers and further sink America into a violent crime crisis
- Spewed rhetoric that will lead to some injuries/deaths.

I mentioned yesterday that it starts with cops not being able to do their jobs, then not defend themselves or others, and eventually that'll spread to the citizenry.
Well, 24 hours later, we're well on our way.
This is a trial balloon. If you don't think the goal is to get to a point where you, as a citizen, can't lawfully shoot a criminal trying to harm you or your family, you're crazy. For some, it's racially motivated. They want a society where suburban dad can't shoot a black teen who is coming for his kid with a knife. For others, it's control-motivated. They want a society where suburban dad can't shoot anyone and instead is completely dependent on the government for his family's protections (and accordingly must abandon wrong think or face being left vulnerable).
We're here, it's utopia time
