Some of these are just stupid... The ability to swear freely? If you need that then you have other problems.
I know adults that go to WDW with out kids
Kids shows can be a good or bad (i'll concede the point on Callou)
Playdates arent much different than adult dates ...probably more laughter due to kid's antics
The article as is though has some points but...no site that i have ever seen or wine tasted is better than walking to my 4 and 6 yr daughters' room about ..10pm to make sure all is well before going to bed. That is the most beautiful sight and i get that every day.
That plus..i know couples that dont have or want kids and each of them have multiple dogs. Still have schedule dictated, less money, messes to clean up.

Oh really? Do you want to know how many fricking times a week the wife and I get the "so when are you guys having kids" bullshite?
It gets old. Fast.

Your ancestors killed others, battled and survived plagues, disease, and famine, crossed oceans, overcame natural disasters, all so you could have a cozy easy life enjoying Netflix and internet and “traveling” without the burden of having children. Yep, this is what it was all about, this is what it was all for, your weak little coddled life.

1. Time
To relax, to travel, to exercise, to socialise,
I do that with kids, and when i need to relax, the wife and i go on a trip together.
quote:
2. Small talk
I don't get what this has to do with kids. You can choose what conversations you want to be a part of or not, regardless if you have kids or not.
quote:
3. Playdates
Or you live in a neighborhood with kids and your kid goes outside and plays with his friends all afternoon while you do what you want to do.
quote:
4. Sleep
I sleep just fine. Pretty sure work affects peoples sleep much more so than children.
quote:
5. Schedules - It’s naive to suggest that people without children don’t have to structure their day to some degree, but there is flexibility and the opportunity for last-minute spontaneity.
Everyone has a schedule. It's up to you to choose if you want to follow it or not.
quote:
6. Holidays - Which don’t need to be taken outside of term time and therefore won’t require re-mortgaging your house to cover the price of the flights.
Learn how to live within your means, or make more money.
quote:
7. Children’s TV
turn the tv off and tell them to go outside. maybe go outside with them for a change.
quote:
8. Nice things
Aka things you can invest a decent amount of money in knowing there won’t be a picture of a spaceship in black biro added to them a week after purchase.
If i were single and a billionaire i still wouldn't give a shite about hanging nice things on the wall. Get a life and quit worrying about what other people think about your expensive possessions that do absolutely nothing for you.
quote:
9. Swearing freely
So f**ing missed after having children.
You have a problem if you can't control your cursing.
quote:
10. Not having to pretend you find children’s activities enjoyable
Board games. Yawn.
So you never pretend you're interested in what your idiot friend is talking about?
I enjoy seeing my kids happy.
quote:
11. It doesn’t take you three and a half hours to leave the house
Keys, phone, lippie … out.
That's not a kids thing, that's a woman thing. The kids and I take less than 5 minutes to get ready and be in the car. The wife is the one taking 3.5 hours.
quote:
12. Money
Something you have significantly more of as a person without children.
Can't argue with that one.
quote:
13. Weekends in Paris
having kids does'nt affect this. You simply need to be rick as frick and like wasting money if you want to weekend in Paris on a whim.
quote:
14. Not having to be a responsible adult *all* of the time
Occasionally getting drunk on Jagerbombs and not making it home until Sunday morning because you’ve pulled and are lying in bed with someone whose surname you don’t know but has just given you three orgasms. *What every parent (secretly) dreams of*
Wow. No i dont' dream about doing that.
quote:
15. Disneyland
What nightmares are made of.
I agree. Not going back.
quote:
16. There’s no shortage of kids in the world
Meaning that, despite being child-free yourself, you’re still the awesome auntie/uncle/godparent – and you can hand them back.
yep. Thanks for not populating it more with morons like yourself.

Some of you act like you are millionaires and are able to hit up Bora Bora while living in your 20 million dollar NYC penthouse. Instead you are working a meaningless job, watching Netflix at night, going to Sonic, and going to Panama City Florida for vacations. No need to ruin this lavish lifestyle with a kid.

honestly tho, i will. im quite accepting of my mortality.
we place a lot of emphasis and waste a lot of resources trying to keep dying/mindless people alive into old age. once my mind and/or body are gone i do not want to live

exactly...we had to attend a gender reveal a few weekends and it was borderline guilt tripping that he haven't had kids yet a whole almost year into marriage

Yeah this isn’t true. Maybe it is more common with women....but get a bunch of adult women around and the conversation will at some point go to “do you have kids?” or “so when are y’all gonna have kids” if they know you.
We got asked all the damn time about when we were gonna have kids. One good thing about getting older is luckily people mostly stop asking that of us.
“Don’t you want kids?”
“Won’t you be lonely later on if you don’t?”
Point is....I can understand those childfree by choice feeling defensive at times.

It’s so telling how angrily people with kids react to articles like this

Poor, uneducated people are incentivized to have more kids through government handouts thus producing a poor, uneducated society.
It’s part of the plan. The gov’t encourages and forces us to subsidize irresponsible breeding which in turn increases the costs for those who are productive citizens to have kids.
Big families used to be common in all classes. Now the middle is being squeezed and as a result we are barely making replacement rates.
Eventually we’ll be overwhelmed. Maybe it is a pointless, losing battle but i’m Not ready to give it up just yet and glorifying childlessness and acting like those who are making the sacrifice to bring in a new generation are somehow stupid...that’s a recipe for failure.
The reset will he Bloody.

I don’t want kids, never have. No matter how many times family and friends said I was going to change my mind as I got older...I never did. I’m 38 now, and I still don’t want kids. I don’t dislike them by any means, they’re just not for me. My gf and I love our freedom 100% of the time.

Yup. Wife and I are finally getting to that age.

Sometimes I wish my husband and I had kept our thinking of not wanting kids.
Then we would have never had to experience the pain of wanting them and not being able to have them.

I'd be willing to bet a significant amount that 4 out 5 of you that are celebrating the child-free life in this thread will have a kid at some point.
You're probably just 26 right now
