President Abraham Lincoln arrives in Gettysburg, PA to deliver his now immortal speech - the Gettysburg Address.
The top painting is an artist's rendition of the scene that would have confronted Lincoln on November 18, 1863 while the bottom photograph is what the area looks like in the present day:

Photo of Lincoln giving the speech. Zoom on the red arrow. It wasn’t discovered until 2007

Cool before and after!

Did the artist purposely portray him 2 feet taller than anyone else around him? I mean damn, I understand he was tell, but that's a bit embellished.

I'm sure that's what he did. The average height of an American male in 1860 was 5'7" - the third tallest average in the world at that time. Abraham Lincoln was 6'4".
ETA:
Here's a photo from October 1862 with Lincoln, Major General George B. McClellan, and McClellan's headquarters staff.

People are downvoting you but based on this board’s reaction to recent federal policy they would’ve hated Lincoln and FDR and the New Deal for that matter.

Lincoln overstepped his bounds but was nothing like Teddy and Woodrow (and later FDR) when it came to expanding the executive's power.
(eta: this isn't to defend Lincoln, just saying that what came later was on a much greater scale)

Ya'll are both right, and people today cling to those socialist government programs that came out of the new deal.

Man, imagine how loud he had to speak and i bet you still couldnt hear past 20 feet.
I've been to Gettysburg twice and cant recommend it enough.
One of the coolest things ive ever done was a midnight ghost tour on the battlefield.
