I'm not taking anything away from the story, he SHOULD be praised. But give him a plaque, a TV news interview, article in the paper, etc....why give him a free ride to college that he didn't earn? Just seems like the 2 aren't even remotely correlated.

I don't think he was implying guaranteed admission. I think he means they could cover the cost for any school he got accepted into. It's a better way to give a reward than just giving a 15 year old the equivalent in cash.
