Overreact? While crime overall might be down than it was.. let's say than in the 90s, public mass shootings are up a lot.
I remember looking at a timeline of mass shooting and before 1999 or something like that, the first one listed was in the early 80s I think.. There would be several years between mass shootings. This isn't accurate, but it would be like 1982- shooting at ______ 1987- shooting at ___________ 1994 shooting at ____________. Then there were a few sort of close to each other before Columbine. Then a few after it.. The in 2001, I guess maybe 9/11 played a factor.. But there are several years after 9/11 without public mass shootings. Then after that the number of mass shootings in the US start to skyrocket.
And in many cases, these shootings are happening at places people use to once consider the "safest" places.. Schools, churches...... movie theaters. While I don't let it dictate what I do, you really don't know when the next head case will decide to go to some random location and start randomly shooting people.
Do people overreact? Sure, but you also have to be aware as well..

I think this is true to a degree. Everyone has an "extreme" mindset. It's the mindset terrorist have. You either believe in what we do or else.
But mental illness is a big problem as well, but why is that? Does anyone think that people, who might have used a lot of drugs when they were younger, have kids that are more likely to have mental illnesses? I am talking about people who grew up in the 60s and 70s... when more and more people were doing acid and ecstasy..
Also, I think many people who served in the military during the gulf war and now in the wars we have been in since 9/11.. These have caused people to suffer with mental illness.

And no, it’s not a “gun” problem. Guns have been readily accessable to kids since the founding of the country. The problem is what we’re teaching, or not teaching, our kids.
Older people like to call the younger generations pussies and talk about how easy they have it, but I disagree. Social media makes it hell on some of these kids. They cant escape the mockery and brutal nature of other kids as easily as before.
And mental health is grossly ignored in American culture. A man is a weak pussy if he has to talk about his feelings to many here

I used to bully big gingers in school. I'm lucky to be alive. Did have one put a spell on me or something before he did a viper strike straight into my neck with his hand. I left him alone after that.
