I saw a few comments saying individuals convicted of severe crimes are separated from general public. I have been to this event probably a dozen times, and I can say that murderers are out among everyone. I have bought art from one guy in particular several times over the years and he committed a very brutal murder - I read up on the guy after meeting with him a few times over the years at the events. He was not behind the fence, rather he was standing amongst me and friends as we looked over his pieces for sale.

Very sad to hear this happened to this poor little girl. I’m not sure how the prison really moves on from this. I first went as a 12 year old and debated whether I would bring my son in a few years.

Are you too stupid to not figure out what he means by that?

Nah, watching you try to twist your way out of this is pretty funny.

You’re just tiring dude. I just posted salmons post where what I thought he was saying was right and you still won’t give up your pointless derailment of the thread.

Now instead of arguing whether the consent is right, you’re still trying to argue what he said and what I thought he said.

There are inmate trustees running the booths. My wife and her friend had their picture taken in the face hole cutout with the painted striped suit (to look like inmates) by these two guys running the photo booth, and they were both lifers. They only let the inmates they trust work with the public during the rodeo. I've never heard of anything like this happening.

This threatens the entire rodeo. That dude will be dealt with very harshly, and he will deserve it.

Actually, some of the inmates selling crafts are convicted murderers. I went to the rodeo a few years ago and bought 5 items from 5 different inmates. They give you a receipt with their names and you have 90 minutes to pay at a separate place. I googled each name and 3 of the 5 were in for life for murder. One shot 2 cops @ Tallulah and another stabbed a nurse 50x in Monroe...

Well, if you'd just admit it was stupid, we could move on. Instead, you're digging in and trying to shift it. Just admit you said something dumb. It's not hard. I've even done it here, and I'm way more stubborn than you.

It shouldn't be happening anyway. Kids/the general public shouldn't be interacting with lifers in this quasi-uncontrolled setting.

I mean...she can literally give consent. Does that mean she understands what she is consenting to? No. Does it make it not rape? Of course not.

But I think that detail in the story is important to understanding how this could have happened. If she snuck into the bathroom with him, that makes this a lot more understandable how this could have happened.

Coerced concent is not true concent. And no matter the circumstances, a child cannot concent to sex with an adult due to the fact they cannot truly comprehend what they are agreeing to do.

For example, an adult can convince a child to do sexual things with promises of toys, candy, puppy, whatever. But even if that child agrees to whatever the adult wants, the child is still not actually concenting because the child cannot concent. A child is incapable of consenting. Instead of concent being given, what has actually happened is better described as manipulation of the child by the adult. This is true even if the child does not realize what happened to them is wrong, which is often the case sadly.

This is true in the legal sense of consent.
