I remember this being an issue in 2021 because teams had paid fees and weren't getting them back if they didn't come because of the vaccine requirement. It sounds like someone didn't want to spend the money and blamed a non-existent vaccine requirement. Cooperstown is not easy to get to.

Cooperstown is a really cool place, I went in the winter and it was awesome.

Yeah there is no vac requirement.

Maybe OP misunderstood and the tournament organizers are requiring proof of vax, but the state of NY does not require it.

Its just another tournament with lot of really not good teams. Dont make it something it isnt. Maybe he will win the green bracket and get that ring. Travel ball dad here. I wouldve voted Atlanta 20 times out of 10.

My son has a bunch. I know for a fact he doesnt even bring most of em in. Found like 8 in his bag looking for his brother glove last year.

Dont get me wrong, the ones that were hard fought and against real competition, he cherishes.

My nephew is representing Louisiana in the Dixie Youth 12U world series this weekend.

The parents of the team were given the choice between Cooperstown, NY at the Field of Dreams or Atlanta.

So there are two World Series they could have played in? Which tournament winner truly gets to call themselves "world champions?"

We went to Cooperstown this year. You have to submit players vaccination records to play. I guess that’s what op means. Nothing special has to be on them except for normal attend school vacs so..

The parents overwhelmingly voted GA b/c of New York's vaccine requirements.

You consider being forced into getting a vaccination you don't want is merely an inconvenience for a weekend?

No one discussed in this thread is being forced to get a vaccination they don't want.

This is the only 12u Dixie youth World Series I know of. Different age groups go to different places

And for all you people downvoting, Dixie Youth is Rec league so what the heck is your problem with now!

There are places that still require this?

Well its a good life lesson. You don't always get what you want. And why go to New York if its pretty much the same thing in your backyard. How unfair is that right? They rather not spend the extra money just so your nephew can go play in cooperstown. Poor thing.
