My nephew is representing Louisiana in the Dixie Youth 12U world series this weekend.

The parents of the team were given the choice between Cooperstown, NY at the Field of Dreams or Atlanta. The parents overwhelmingly voted GA b/c of New York's vaccine requirements.

Sucks for my nephew. Playing in Cooperstown is a once in a lifetime experience he won't get b/c his Bucktown area parents don't want to be inconvenienced for a weekend.

I'm in ATL now and it's fricking hot. They won their first game btw

At least it's not Panama City Beach, the normal "World Series" site.

Well it sounds like NY is fricking up then.

BTW I don't think anybody is checking vax cards anymore, so why didn't they just lie?

No, just got back from there a week ago. I was in the city and a couple of smaller towns in NY. These people just hear what they want to hear about vaccine mandates through other uninformed people and treat it as the gospel. I mean NYC politics suck but that is no reason your kid shouldn't go to Cooperstown.

I don't think so... not sure what OP is referring to. Maybe parents don't like NY because of previous regulations? NY dropped the vaccine requirement for medical staff/workers a few months ago. I doubt they'd require kids to have it for baseball event. Who knows tho....

I doubt jt has anything to do with vaccines. Do you know how many raffles/Buy a Square/MLM “sales” it would take to fund a NY trip? That’s a lotta Venmo.
