But... fedex says before they do that, they need a C-level exec to sign a power of attorney, get it notarized, then snail mail the original to their office in Memphis, wait for that to be processed, before they can pay the duty for us.
Customs can be a bitch sometimes. They deal with this a lot, so just follow their process.

Why did the other two boxes fly through without issue? Why has every single box I have sent to Germany never had a single issue?
Because customs is a crapshoot sometimes.

They deal with this a lot more than you do. But I guess you can try it your own way.

Contact info?
Did you have all four boxes at time of pickup or was the airwaybill not corrected to reflect the two boxes?
The PoA only needs to be on company letterhead signed by a c-level employee and does not have to be snail mailed. Depending on the incoterms you selected you may want to include that in the PoA.
Have you spoken to your rep? If you have a multimillion dollar account with FedEx you’ll have a local rep in Atlanta and more likely an international overlay.
If you have neither are you working with ftn, international distress or customer service.

What is the value of the 2 boxes they have in customs? Easier to ship 2 more boxes and hope they get through?

All four boxes were ready at the time of pickup, but the fedex driver simply didn't pick up two of them, until two days later. I have it all on camera.

Fedex sent us a template on their own letterhead for us to sign.

Our shipping manager out of California is the one who has been on the phone with fedex a couple times a day for this, I don't know how to answer this question.

Me, the recipient, and our shipping manager.
None of us have been contacted by German customs. But German customs told fedex who told us that our recipient refused the duties, which is simply not true.

$60k a piece, and I've already thought about this. We aren't there yet, though.

We'll need pics of the assets before making a recommendation. It's the OT way.

Sounds like a good opportunity for you to show an exec how good you are.

it matters, this isn't a sale. The shite is already purchased and owned and we are shipping it to ourselves in Germany.
Is it fob? You sure liability has transferred?

What service did you use? You can more than likely file a claim and get the shipment on FedEx.

Perfect, still should be able to fax it to either FTN, international distress or your rep.

Honestly, why is the shipping manager in Cali handling it if the shipment came out of Atlanta? If it’s a multimillion dollar account with multiple locations you’ll more than likely be a national account and will have a local rep assigned to you in both Cali and Atlanta.

The specific instructions said snail mail, it is actually in the document to be signed.

Our ATL shipping manager is a moron, I don't trust international shipments with him. Our Cali guy is trusted. So with international things, or anything complicated, freight, secure shipping, etc, I go through him to arrange everything. I will use our ATL guy if it is something easy like a fedex envelope from ATL to Charlotte.

Learn something new every day. Never had to do that. Fax has always worked.

Well that’s unfortunate. You may want to double check that your guy is reaching out to the wam/nam. They pay those guys well. Put them to work.

Nvm. I see a few posts back.
Since you’re in ATL I’d move the business to Kuehne + Nagel. Your rates won’t be as cheap but a Forwarder like them will throw their weight around and your freight would be at the consignee already.

What FedEx calls their national account Managers.
You should have one along with local support for each location you operate in.
In any case FedEx Trade Networks is involved. They handle all of FedEx brokerage.
Just make sure your guy isn’t calling customer service. Should be able to get a contact set up in ftn as well.
