You are aware Kuehne + Nagel is a small player in the game. Like can’t even carry the big threes jockstrap. I don’t even think they hit half the countries in the world.
UPS for freight
FedEx for ground
DHL for international
FedEx is better than UPS for int’l and will rival DHL in a few years once the TNT merger is squared away operationally.
Overall though DHL is the largest logistics company in the world and based out of Germany.

Fedex says they can pay the duties for us, and bill back to our account (we have multi-million dollar fedex account).
Good lord man if this is true WTF are you sweating a few grand in duties for, the lost time has already cost you more than that.
probability of German customs accepting CC is 100%

Nine times out of ten it's an electric razor. But ... every once in a while [looks around, leans in conspiratorially] ... it's a dildo. [leans back] Of course, it's company policy never to imply ownership in the event of a dildo. We have to use the indefinite article, "a dildo", never ... your dildo.

What FedEx calls their national account Managers.
You should have one along with local support for each location you operate in.
In any case FedEx Trade Networks is involved. They handle all of FedEx brokerage.
Just make sure your guy isn’t calling customer service. Should be able to get a contact set up in ftn as well.
There is actually a 2nd POA that was forwarded to me for signature... TNT.... does that ring a bell?

I don’t know a damn thing about all of this but I just came to say I very much doubt they need a C-suite signature if you are a fortune 5. It’s more likely that’s just typical thing they ask for to guarantee someone signing is legit.
You can likely just get someone from accounting or in charge of your dept to sign off.
I mean you really think some guy in german customs is going to google the signees occupation and turn it away?

I agree, I give zero shits about the money, but I have no way of paying the money. I have no invoice, I have no contact, I have nothing, except money and a willingness to pay it.
Fedex seems to be holding the duty invoice hostage until some POA gets signed and whatnot.
How can I contact German customs directly and pay the fricking thing?

The POA is not for Germany, it is for FedEx they say is required for them to engage with customs on our behalf, and exchange money, etc.

TNT was the fourth largest logistics company in the world. FedEx bought them a few years ago primarily for their European footprint.
Once all of tnt is under FedEx operational control it’ll bump them up over DHL.
Still prefer DHL’s express intl network but it’ll cost you. When they dumped spot quotes last year in favor of going small parcel I went away. They’re trying to push pallets onto the global forwarding division and they suck.

Common misconception. FedEx or any shipper does not hold a package. Customs in the import country is holding clearance until duties are paid. FedEx can’t do a thing until customs clears the shipment.

Also, if your goods are high value (they are) you can have a poa on file with all carriers. Each company also has a master profile for your account. Send your rep all hs codes along with any applicable documents for clearance. You can ask for a customer profile sheet which you can fill out.
Contacting Germans customs directly won’t work. You either work with FedEx or request broker turnover and choose your own broker. It’d be quicker to work with FedEx on this one though.
