12,000 fentanyl pills seized in candy wrappers at LAX, sparking Halloween warning

Someone tried to get through security at Los Angeles International Airport with bags of candy that contained some 12,000 pills of fentanyl early Wednesday morning. The opioid pills were contained inside packages of Skittles, Whoppers and SweeTarts candy.
The drugs were seized by the Los Angeles County Sheriff's Department and federal Drug Enforcement Agency agents assigned to a task force at the airport.
The suspect managed to flee but has been identified.
The bust sparked new calls for parents to be cautious this Halloween about candy their children bring home. There have been multiple reports this year of fentanyl manufactured in rainbow colors or disguised in candy wrappers.

I store bought candy this year. When we get home from trickortreating I’m going to throw away all the candy they got and replace it with store bought while my wife distracts them for a minute. Not taking any chances.

The guy was likely trying to smuggle drugs, not give out 100s of thousands of dollars in drugs freely to kids

I remember it was a halloween after 9/11. There was this older black women I knew who was bringing her grandkids around and she told me "when we get home I am going to have to check their candy to make sure nobody put amtraks in it"..

Sure this has nothing to do with, it's Halloween season I've got a better chance hiding in candy boxes. Who the frick would spend all that money to give for free to kids. Second question, how many verified reports of razor blades in candy are there from 80s, 90s, etc.? Fear mongering bullshite every stupid fricking year.

Switching out their candy without them knowing is harmful how?
Halloween is a glorification of evil, gluttony, and witchcraft. I’d prefer if we didn’t celebrate it at all, but I’m not a monster, so we’re going to a designated neighborhood and I’m going to just monitor and ration what they get.
