After this incident maybe it should now be called Trigger Knocking

I don't know how dumb someone has to be to downvote that one

No, of course not. It’s just become common to hear about older kids kicking a front door hard as they can in the middle of the night.

Well, this kid wasn't older and it was 11 p.m.

Anyway, pretty sure if you chase someone down the street and shoot them in the back you're going to be arrested even if they did kick your door as hard as they could.

The important part isn't whether they rang the doorbell, beat on the door, kicked the door, etc. The important part is that they then ran away, making it impossible for you to claim you thought your life was in danger or invoke Castle Doctrine.

Standing your ground doesn't mean you get to chase someone down.

Maybe in Texas...but otherwise, you're going to see the inside of a jail cell.

There is a lady on my local Nextdoor App who a young kid did this to and she put his pic on there asking if anyone knew him and could tell him to stop. That seems more appropriate if this bothers you.

I see this all the time on Ring, Facebook, and the like. Everyone has cameras now and love to make the door knockers famous. Not just the kids, but salesmen, Amazon divers who throw packages etc.

If you go near someone's house you are being filmed.

What is ding dong ditch? I’m 50 and don’t recall this game

I’m 68 and I can remember the older teenagers when I was single digits old talking about n@gger-knocking.

It didn’t even involve n@ggers so I’m not certain of the origin of the name.

I know they used to go do it at the Oak Manor sometimes when we would go to the Quarterdeck Club.

I say that it’s almost 100% that no one is being filmed.

I've been DDDed many times. I did it as a kid, so I always let it slide...part of being a kid.

One time a kid did it during Xmas and my ring camera caught him tripping on a decoration in the yard and face planted. Instant karma. It was glorious.

But I'll say the kids need to limit it to the front door/bell. A few years ago some kids thought it would be funny to sneak into people's fenced-in backyards at 2am and bang on bedroom windows. Did it to multiple houses. That, unlike DDD, can and likely will lead to getting your arse shot.

No, watch your fricking kids. No one else likes them and if they show up to the wrong house at night they can be mistaken for a criminal and killed. That’s on the parents and no one else

Wrong. Unless the kid was attempting to force entry into the home, prison for life for you and your kind

You can't just shoot people that are not forcibly entering your home, Jesus Christ people.

I'm as 2A as it gets, and shite like this annoys the absolute hell out of me.

You are a frickin retard. If you really believe it’s okay to shoot kids running away after they ring your doorbell, you shouldn’t be able to own a firearm.

The ring does record though. Anytime there’s motion. Also almost everyone I know has Vivint or some facsimile thereof

Oh well. 11 YO shouldn’t be out fricking around at 11PM. Sucks for his family, but he gets exactly what is likely to happen when you do stupid shite. His age is irrelevant, so spare me.

11yr olds shouldn't be out pulling pranks at 11pm.

Also, consequences- however wrong and illegal- rarely arrive with an age check.

Dude that shot the kid needs punishment... but people, keep an eye on your kids and try your damndest to deter them from behavior that in this timeline might cost them life or limb.

Like cow tipping Everyone claims to have done it and they’re all lying. You can’t tip over a sleeping cow even if he did let you get close.

Not true. My cousin's best friend's older brother totally tipped cows.

We just got one.. the first month or two was free, after the introductory period we pay a small fee for recordings. It works in real time either way but it's extra to store recordings.
