How do you know so much about the weather?
Posted on 1/23/26 at 8:27 pm to Duke
I think the shallow cold is coming down deeper and harder

My father from NOLA worked in Wyoming and North Dakota. He work in a long sleeve in freezing weather and snow there. Guys from North Dakota worked in tshirts. The coldest I have been is in NOLA at 23 degrees. It was like being in water at 23. I have been all over the country in cold weather. Chicago in the wind off Lake Michigan at 15 degrees was a cold MOFO too.

You're posting on tOT, bro.
You're lucky the standard response to how to keep warm isn't to "PIIHB".

I know I just read that and said damn that is what a Karen would say. For shame

Bro
He doesn’t work for us
He’s having fun and sharing info that I guarantee you is hard to find elsewhere. It’s an OT weather thread.

Yeah I’m sitting in Biloxi waiting on one of my kids for a school function it’s currently in the upper 50’s looking at all the maps today it was showing mid 60’s along the coast Sunday I didn’t think a warm up was coming so I’m guessing this thing may be plunging a bit harder and faster than anticipated.
Live further north but everything I saw showed fairly warm weather out this way.

I would just add that in my humble opinion and view a met. has an inherent duty to society to share their knowledge forthrightly if that knowledge can help keep people safe in a dangerous situation.
I would liken it to a doctor's duty to help someone in a public place who has a health emergency.
Just my opinion.

You're right but there's no need to debate further. Back to the weather

He’s probably actually working and doing his joerb.
The unprofessional thing to do would be to give our jolly band of degenerates an update at every whim instead of his actual duties.
Or he’s hammered playing xbox weather simulators which is also ok.
I think the former is actually the case

Bruh, I think I gave yall a pretty strong explanation of what we're looking for, in terms of actual observations.
Plus, Im much more concerned with snowfall and avalanche mitigation in a very specific part of Colorado in my normal gig.

May need to make a run from Austin to DFW and back tomorrow morning. Best forecast to follow?
Posted on 1/23/26 at 9:04 pm to Duke
I take it back. Does your business card and email signature have , Met. on it?
Also if we get let's say 0.8" of freezing rain how bad is that? I have a 4wd vehicle.

frick driving on ice.
AWD or not. Tires are what matters for this and unless u got studs or some burly snow tires, good luck.
And bruh, feel free to look at my post history in this thread for physical reasoning for whats happening. Unless youve never been on a message board before, it should be obvious when Im providing actual info and when Im cutting up.

All good. Once again thank you for the info.
I caught you at the cutting up period. Keep up the good work.
