Mayfield staying upright was the difference. Us not being able to protect Carr was the difference

But Carr has a higher passer rating so please explain logic.

Baker made 4.5 million this year.

Goff made 21ish million.

What did we pay Carr? I can’t remember.

Saints could have had Mahomes, had Spags and fired him.

This board would have been in total melt down if the Saints had signed Baker Mayfield in last year's free agency. If Grupe makes the last minute FG vs Green Bay Mayfield is sitting home this week.

Baker vs carr...

You forgot a big one :

Carr 4 years $150M $100M guaranteed

Baker : 1 year $4M plus another $4.5M in incentives possible

Now after the season they had Mayfield will be looking for a bigger deal we will see what they sign him for

I expect baker to get even more than Carr. Qb pay is ridiculous

Well it's moot because Baker will likely get a three year deal from the Bucs paying him $25-$30M a year

Man, I could be one hell of a GM if I used hindsight like you guys.

I’ve been saying for years now we should have signed a cheap qb on one year prove it deals to get our cap under control. I mentioned Bsker several times as one of the QBs. TB, Dalton, Minshew. Several were out there. No hindsight was needed.

You had Mahomes on your draft board one year and Lamar another year .

That’s all

Probably figured they tried that with Winston & Dalton, and didn't want to have to cycle through QBs every year until the cap is under control. Other side of that is if you talk to Mickey, the cap is under control so we can go all in on that final missing piece

About 90 percent of all posters on ST would have chosen Carr over Mayfield.

No one could have predicted Mayfield’s 2023 surge, there was zero indication suggesting there was any possibility of Mayfield’s ascension.

Along with 90% of the NFL. And kudos to Baker for his year, but he's NO ONE's long-term answer at QB.
