As in the Broncos 2nd round Pick and Thomas for a 3rd round pick.

Just to dump that cap hell. Similar deals.

Package Thomas and Kamara for a 3rd round pick.

Almost any player on this team making more than $10m is un-tradeable. Because of Mickey's cap magic and kicking contract into additional years/converting to bonuses, ALL of that money is guaranteed. If we trade someone that's owed that money, the ENTIRE value of the contract becomes dead money immediately.

We cannot trade anyone.

You do know that someone has to pay that salary right? Saints or the team that trades for the player. This is why kicking the can down the road killed this team. The best players are not trade friendly. Who wants to take on the negative equity?

This isn’t the NBA

Our best approach to rebuilding this roster is through the draft. If Allen is returning I’m all for using next year to eat up more years and money off some contracts and then shipping them out to acquire more picks.

We need to do what it takes to get more picks, and hit on them, vs shipping picks out.

Since we aren’t in the playoffs, it’s Madden GM season.

In what scenario does trading a player give you a better cap situation than cutting a player?

Net it's the same impact, but on a theoretical level, you can designate a guy as a post June 1 cut, but not a post June 1 trade.

That's why we restructured Latt's contract the way we did. We will see what this does to his value.

How does that help support the OPs suggestion of getting negative value on a trade?

Over The Cap

Click on the down arrow and toggle between the options. Trade vs. cut, pre June 1st vs. post June 1st.

The sheer number of accountants on ST is quite staggering. Blah blah cap hell while paying 18% interest on F250 truck nuts.

Wrong. It’s been done before. You can do this. Texans took on Denver’s qb to get his contract off the books years ago. Cost them a 2nd.

Lions basically took Goffs contract right after he signed the extension for a first.
