Wait, are we acting like Jimmy G. was bad when he played for SF? Yes, he couldn't stay healthy, but when he was he put up solid numbers (like Purdy) and they won (like Purdy).

Shanahan has that SF team rolling and are in a position to be team that comes out of the NFC this year. He's a damn good coach. As far as Care and how he never really has success in Oakland doesn't mean he's a bad quarterback. Oakland is a dysfunctional organization and it's hard for any player to have consistent success there, much like Matthew Stafford with Detroit. You saw what happened with him after he left.

Pretty sure Lance wasn’t Shannahan’s decision. The word around that draft was he wanted Mac Jones and the front office wanted lance.

Purdy in our system, with our line, with our shitty routes, would look closer to Winston than he does now.

How is this a question? Purdy. At worst he’s Carr in a good system and 8 years younger.

Purdy is trash under pressure. He can complete screens and short outs like any NFL QB. Andy Dalton could put up the same #'s in San Fran that Purdy is.

This is what makes Purdy so good. He knows where to go with the ball against pressure.

Yeah, he has great offensive minds coaching him, but yall act like anyone could do it.

Does Purdy work outside the SF offense?

ANY qb is going to be better in a higher functioning offensive system but I think traits that Purdy clearly has at a young age like quick release, going through his reads quickly and accuracy would translate anywhere.

Ask yourself, was Matt Ryan the same when Shanahan left to coach San Francisco?

Shanahan puts his QBs in better position.

Gets him weapons

Two people downvoted this. Didn’t know Allen and PC jr. had accounts…

Absolutely Purdy. Hes cheaper, his potential is higher and hes already won in the playoffs.

Shanahan confirmed on I Am Athlete that the decision came down to Lance or Jones, “There were two that I really wanted... Mac Jones and Trey [Lance].”

He traded up for Lance a month before the draft even took place. When in hindsight he could’ve kept his original pick of 1.12 and selected Mac Jones, which in and of itself would not have absolved him from misidentifying his QB of the future

Kyle Shanahan wanted Mac Jones & Tom Brady" - NFL Insider claims 49ers HC was talked out of perfect QB plan by management

Everyone knew they traded up to get a QB, and many thought it was Jones. He and Lance were both being projected as the 3rd pick all the way up until they took Lance.

We will never really know the truth, but a lot of rumors were around that Shannahan wanted Jones and the front office pushed Lance onto him. I even found a Mock where the guy predicts Lance but talks about the Jones/Shannahan rumors.

It definitely wasn’t a given that they were taking Lance.
