Would you rather a receiving tight end or a true number 2?

Since the draft options are limited and cap space is limited it feels like both of these may not be addressed unless trequan smith takes the next step(which is very possible). That being said if we were only able to get one which would be your choice? I personally want the tight end with brees aging the shorter passing game will be more and more important. I do feel like a good receiving tight end can be picked up late in the draft though.

I think we should pay Jared Cook and draft Isabella to play in the slot.

My source said Jared Cook is in play. You need to be patient and calm down.

We have a lot of young WR's with possible upside and older vets.

At TE we have very little.

Don't think Isabella is there at 62. Gunna have to move up for him

Yeah I’m really hoping smith can take the next step because he showed flashes of good potential. If he does and they snag a good receiving tight end this offense is going to be unstoppable.

I agree. Learning curve is too great for a TE, it doesn’t mesh with our window. You can still get one but I don’t think you want to count on a rookie.

I feel like WR is deep, find one who can compliment the others. Either a slot guy or a joker type

sign FA TE and draft a WR

we cannot count on anybody right now to be a true #2

we just hope and pray smith or kirkwood or meredith or dez pans out. ginn will never be a true #2 now. he is situational.

draft a stud WR and put all this shite to rest

then we w only need any of the above to contribute nicely as a #3 which is not asking too much.

we would have a pass catching TE and already have that at RB with kamara. in our best years we had a stud TE. brees needs a stud TE.

2009? shockey- we win SB

2011- jimmy- best O in saints history

Yeah the big thing is with a late second there won’t be any guarantees at receiver. I just want one more threat in the passing game. But I’m with chad on smith possibly being a number 2. He just has to take that next step.

There is no such thing as a number 2 wide receiver.

We need a red zone threat TE now, no time for grooming a rookie TE. Super Bowl or bust this year. If you sign Cook and snag up a veteran WR we can use our second rd pick on a much needed defensive piece.

At times Meredith, Smith, and kirkwood showed potential. Ginn if healthy is a good option as well.

Gimme a better tight end where it's a vast hole.

That Rotoworld mock draft had AJ Brown at 51, Campbell to us at 62, Isabella all the way in the 90s. Some good quality WRs available in this draft .

JuJu Smith Schuster was taken 62nd in the 2017 draft, Kupp 69th, Godwin 84th, Golladay 96th, Dede Westbrook and Josh Reynolds in the 4th, Kittle at 146

Last year we saw Gallup 81, Trequan 91, Coutee and Callaway in the 4th, MVS in the 5th etc

We will be fine looking for a WR if we want one. DOesnt even have to be with our first pick

A threat at TE would open things up a lot. A healthy Ben Watson made the offense more efficient. When he missed games or wasn't 100% the offense struggled.

Don't act like Shockey was some type of dynamic TE at that point in his career he had 48 catches for 569 yards and 3 tds He was just very reliable and made plays when needed.

He wasn't at all, that's the point... that our offense is wildly better when we have even just an above-average guy in that position.

Clearly you didn't read his whole post. Right before he mentioned Shockey he wrote this.

Shockey was not a stud TE at that point in his career

I do agree tho, we don't need some insane tight end. We just need one that will be super reliable and make plays when needed. Even if he can put up Shockey's 09 numbers that I listed earlier, thats perfect.
