Oh the things brees would do with a Kelce or Kittle....

He doesn't even need one those guys! Just having someone like Dallas Goedert, Trey Burton, Nick Vannett, or Chris Herndon would do wonders

If we had somebody at that level, we'd see the 2011 offense again but upgraded.
Thomas instead of Colston
Kamara instead of Sproles

Would literally be the most insane shite ever if the Saints had an elite TE in their offense this year.

I'm not arguing that he didn't have the talents because obviously it was a massive deal whenever we got him in 2008. What I'm saying tho is that he wasn't what he used to be. He was a shell of what he was. You're making it sound like he was absolute animal to that offense, when his numbers clearly show otherwise. I would've pointed at Ben Watson's 2015 season before Shockey's 2009 season.

Smith should improve and was playing very well prior to his toe injury which are awful to play through. It’s not surprising he struggled after that given the type of WR he is and how that particular in injury would affect his game.

Hooefully the time off to heal will help him take that next step he seemed to be doing.

Receiving improvements

1. Thomas will be better
2. Kamara will be better
3. Smith will be better
4. Meredith will be healthy
5. Ginn will be healthy - only one I am concerned that may begin to lose a step
6. Arnold will be better
7. Closing in on Cook who should make Kamara's life easier.

I really feel the goal is to get enough speed or talent to force the defense into zone. The Chiefs did it with Hill, Kelce, and Watkins. Saints can do it with Thomas, Kamara, Cook, and Ginn

Not to mention Taysom as well for that wildcard aspect

I feel like a legit receiving TE strengthens an area of the field where Brees has a lot of success. And when you talk about a true number 2 WR, I think you might be discounting the role of Alvin Kamara. What kind of yardage total does the average #2 have? Kamara is posting 700-800 yards receiving..I think that's #2 territory.

I'd like to run it back with Dez and see what happens.

We have a stable of WR's that can emerge, in our OFF, as threats and compliments to M.T. We have really no threat at TE. I'll take the receiving TE and drive DEFs crazy prepping to defend us.

WHO DAT BABY!

in our best years we had a stud TE. brees needs a stud TE.

2009? shockey- we win SB

2011- jimmy- best O in saints history

Absent a fluke non-call the Saints probably would have beaten the Patriots in the Super Bowl with Ben Watson at TE. As it stands they got further than they did in 2011.

The reality is the team can do fine without a 'stud TE.'
