Would you like to see the Saints give Ingram an extension with higher pay or let him walk?

I say let him walk. RB is a dime a dozen position and Ingram is starting to get up there in age, as far as running backs are concerned at least.

Is it?

Is that why a RB was taken second overall this last draft?

It would be cool if we could throw him a 2 year deal thats fair to him, but Im sure he wants a stable 4 year deal. Idk Im okay either way honestly.

Let's see how our boy Boston Scott does and reassess this situation.

It depends on what he is asking for. He also shot himself in the foot with this ploy coming off a four game suspension.

I could easily make the argument that in Payton's offense, a Kamara type running back is invaluable, while an Ingram type running back is expendable.

The two together, I believe, are better. It just depends on what Ingram is asking for, with knowing we're about to pay MT13 top WR money. Let Ingram walk if it could come at the expense of keeping Thomas.

Good point. Agreed. MT13 is essential to our offense. Ingram, while a great complement to AK, is a necessary loss when it comes to keeping MT

Yep. If we were still looking for that Joker in this offense, it would be a different story. You could throw in another hard-nosed, good blocking, decent pass catching RB in there to replace Ingram. Kamara, for this offense, is one of a kind.

Like I said, I think they're the two perfect complements for the offense, but I'd prefer to keep MT13 over Ingram if cap room becomes the issue by Ingram's wants.

I'd still think that we have the leg up on those negotiations after the four game suspension.

Would he take a 4 year 28 mil contract with 15 mil guaranteed?

Sign him. I don’t think it needs to be an earth shattering contract. Around 4 years. He’s in his prime and looks great.

I would not have guessed those are the top 10-15 highest paid running backs.

I know right.
Will be interesting to see what MI ask for. As usual its really just about the guaranteed the player wants.

Ingram is a two down back..let him walk for more money..West may prove to be just as serviceable in his absence

He's not AK when it comes to pass catching, but he's pretty damn good out of the backfield as a receiver and on screens.

Having he and Kamara together is important.

That's complete bullshite.

Ingram is a very good blocking back (something Kamara has said he really needs to work on) and has 50, 46, and 58 receptions each of the last 3 years while averaging 380 yards per year in that span.

And let's not forget he averaged over 1,000 yards rushing 3 of the last 4 years (while still getting over 750 yards the other year in only 12 games, meaning he was on pace for another 1,000 yard year).

Ingram isn't the flashy back that can make the plays Kamara does in the passing game, but he can get you yards (averages 7.4 ypr over the last 3 years) and isn't a liability blocking for Brees.
