re: Would the Saints still be your team if they relocated?

So many factors involved with a relocation
The new city and its identity as a whole along with the new fans/ When the Jazz left NOLA for Utah the clash of ideologies and identities could not have been more drastic and was probably an immediate turn off for most people in terms of following the team.
Rebranding - Like the Oilers or the Original Browns the history doesn't get erased but does slowly fade altogether
New Culture being added - change would undoubtedly happen...would most original fans be able to embrace the new city adding its culture to the team while possibly removing some/all of ours
The History and its lost value in the new fanbase. Sure any City that would take over the Saints would claim Drew Brees, Rickey Jackson, Willie Roaf and any other HOF player...but ROH players would have very little value to the new fans and the importance of other seasons besides 2009 would be minimized.
What if its an international relocation? The NFL has not hidden its interest in going global. What if we lost our team literally to another country?

I started cheering for the Magic because Shaq went there and remained a fan up until Howard was traded and I quit caring about the NBA.
There was some idiot on the MSB who was claiming you couldn't be a fan of a team if you weren't from or still lived in that city.
you kinda proved his point you one of them shitty fans.

The Howard trade isn't a reason I quit following them. Just a marker I remember when I really started to lose interest in the league. If there's no team from your current city or hometown, what other criteria can you use to pull for a team?

Damn this is a tough question. I honestly don't think I can answer unless it was actually happening because there would be so many mixed emotions.

Hell no.
My new favorite team would be whoever was playing the Saints that week.

And if you paid attention to my timeline, I remained a fan even shaq left. Remained a fan even after the '95 team started to dismantle, Penny trying to be a leader, getting Grant Hill and never really seeing him do anything, Tmac holding up 1 finger after winning the first two games against Detroit and then losing 3 in a row.
Point being however I became a fan, I didn't bail.

If the Saints left NOLA I'd abandon football altogether. Did anyone follow the bowl games? The product on the field in CFB is unwatchable. The spreads on games are enormous. Who wants to watch LSU throttle some mid-level B12 team in a meaningless bowl game, or play SW Utah A&M 4 times a year?
I'd just double down on the NBA. Steph Curry anybody???? Yes, please.

Home teams are the only thing keeping many fed up fans watching the shitty product. So if the Saints left I would follow for a short time out of curiosity. Interested in how the next fanbase compared to us and how the team is reguarded in that city compared to NO

I'd probably be pretty pissed off if they relocated, and I might just stop following professional football altogether. I stopped watching the Saints in 2005 when there were rumors of Benson moving the Saints.

Hey Brian Thornhill! It's been a long time!
I like the question that's posed. I would have loved the San Antonio Saints; however, even though it would be a shorter drive for me to attend games, it's important to me that they are the New Orleans Saints.
When I was six, I attended my first game in the Superdome. It was the awesome season of 1987, and the Saints played the San Francisco 49ers. This day changed my life. The experience absolutely blew me away. I attend at least one game a year, and everytime I go back to the Superdome, I get that same feeling I got as a six year old. That's why I'm willing to drive seven hours to go watch a 5-9 Saints team play the Jacksonville Jaguars. I simply love being there. It's the highlight of my year. Screaming for my Saints, living and dying on every play.

The Saints would be dead to me if they left.
I doubt I could pull for another team either.

There is no way I would support a team (financially or emotionally) if they left.

Follow up question, if no, would y'all become Falcons fans?
I'd be a fan of anyone who played the Saints.
But if I had to choose a team to cheer for, like right now, it would probably be Arizona because of LSU players.

I wouldn't watch another NFL game until a team is back in NOLA.

It depends on where they went and if they keep the name. Mixed feelings but I would def still follow the team
