My brother-in-law has been a Rams fan since he was in elementary school, and he's taking this news pretty hard. They spent a good portion of their childhood in St. Louis (also a big Blues and Cardinals fan), so a big part of his fanhood is based on where he spent most of his childhood, and I wonder if he'd still cheer for them while they're in LA. Then I thought back on the San Antonio scare and I just don't know it would be the same if the Saints were in another city. I'm not the biggest fan of New Orleans at all, but I love it for the team alone, and I feel both are tied to one another. It's not nola without the saints, and it's not the saints without nola.

If the Saints left New Orleans, I'd likely never watch another NFL game. At least not for a dozen years or so, then I could reasses. I'd be pretty inconsolable.

You would follow some of your favorite players for a while then it would all just fade away.

How many stories could one stand about the excitement and relief for the city to finally be getting a NFL franchise to say nothing of any success the team may have.

I would be bitter at first, but once the season starts it would be hard not to cheer for them like normal.

During the rumors after Rita / Katrina I tried to pull for the Texans (lake Charles is closer to Houston than New Orleans) but it wasn't the same. I could watch the game, but there wasn't any emotional investment.

So without that what is fandom?

I would abandon the NFL altogether if they left.

I'm in Houston now. If that happened I really would feel like I would be losing a connection to home, would be difficult to really be invested in any NFL team at that point. Would continue to cheer for the Tigers and just move on from the NFL.

If I have to be honest with myself, I am finding the modern NFL becoming harder and harder to enjoy anyway. I might take a bit of a hiatus from caring for a few years after the Brees era to be honest. The big money of the NFL has poisoned the waters of competition. Same thing happened to the NBA post-lockout in '98, for me at least.

I feel the same way. It's hard to watch an NFL game outside of the Saints these days. If they left new orleans I probably wouldn't watch the NFL at all anymore

Absolutely not. I'd never watch another NFL game and I would root against them if I did end up watching.

They wouldn't be the Saints anymore. "San Antonio Saints"? Does not compute.

No, there would be no reason to watch the NFL anymore.

Go Zephyrs!!!

It would depend on where they located to. Within 2 hours? Definitely. I'd still make a couple games a season.

Accross the country? No.

I mainly can't support the Rams anymore because of Kroenke. The dude is an absolute shithead.
