Worst move was the loose lips that let it slip that we were going to draft Mahomes in 2017.

To be fair, we got absolutely hosed by the refs about 8 times in that game.

How was he going to acquire this qb?

All the early draft picks went to trying to win a superbowl. On top of that he tried to draft mahomes.

Throwing the ball after the ted ginn big catch to make it first and goal against the rams. I think the ghost of the Minneapolis was in his head, but we should have run the ball 3 times and kicked a fg.

Can you imagine the uproar if the Saints pulled off drafting a QB in the first with Brees still at the helm, and his inevitable benching for the new guy?

Mightve been some uproar, but if you are able to make that move then, Brees honestly still had some decent trade value as well. We’d be in a great spot right now instead of being in such a precarious position.

Mahomes wasn't a Top 5 pick, he was picked at 10. It wasn't like he was expected to be anywhere near this good, this early. Nobody would have been shocked if he rode the bench until Brees' expected retirement.

Never giving Drew a big time #1WR, yes we had some good WRs but never the Pro Bowl type.

If only Sean had found a young great Defensive coordinator to grow with the Saints.

Also hiring his friends ughhhh.

Not shutting down the Brees drama immediately before it spiraled out of control and torpedoed team chemistry. We had the tools last year for a run, but a bunch of babies let their butthurt feelings get in the way.

Give me csp/whatever over ditka/Williams.

CSP is the best we’ve ever had it honestly. I mean the man won a super bowl in New Orleans. Magical.

Not trading up a couple spots for Maholmes when they had him graded so highly.

Not trying overtly to be a homer, but reading this thread reminds me how good we've been for 15 years or so. I watched the Katrina game some months ago and it was surreal, remembering how we were compared with how we are. But yeah, it's nice to have conversations about these "mistakes."

To be fair, though, Jim Mora was the man first! He brought us out of the cellar.

The refs played a huge part in that loss.

They helped us out two weeks later in NO, so it’s all good.
