I think we are good honestly. Id love to have him, but not for what we’d have to give up.

Seems like all the good players get traded for like a 3rd,4th or 5th rounder and they go to New England.

I’m honestly sick of the ‘hold out’ shite going on in today’s NFL. I know it’s always happened but I don’t think it’s ever been this prevalent.

It’s tainting the game for me. If he’s holding out for money now, he’ll do it again and again and again. Constant distraction.

I honestly think it's less prevalent now.

Even with about a 0.001% chance of this happening I’m still torturing myself with an image of Jordan, Mack, and Davenport all on the field together

Good Gawd

The first thing they tell you when you enter the NFL: “this is a business”

In the NFL I will always support the players holding out.

100% of the time.

If you know anything about sports then you know that baseball and basketball have guaranteed contracts. The NFL does not and therefore the only way to renegotiate as a player when you outperform your contract is hold out. If you underperform the team can cut you, trade you, threaten to cut you and force you to take less.

Why do we hear so much about player holding out but so little on forced paycuts.

Mack should hold out until he gets an extension with a lot of guaranteed money.

Ive actually gone the other way more recently. Players are a major injury away from never seeing the field again. I'll never blame someone for getting as much as they can to protect themselves. Not to mention someone like him who's the best player on their team and has every bit of leverage to do so.

Between the draft capital and the contract this would be tough for us.

We're going to have a lot of guys coming up for contracts and if we sign Mack it'll likely cost at least two other players, if not three (DEs get massive contracts).

I'd rather wait and see what becomes of Davenport.

Those contracts were written with the understanding that they were not guaranteed. The players understood it. In fact, almost always, a portion of the contract IS guaranteed. So, they specifically negotiated the portion that is guaranteed.

It's almost as if you are saying that a contract that isn't fully guaranteed doesn't need to be honored. That's dumb.

They aren't the players I'm talking about Chad.

Thomas, then Ram and Kamara, and then Lattimore. They'd all be coming up for contracts when Mack's contract is heading into the big numbers. And then if Davenport shows out you're likely looking at keeping either Jordan or Mack but not both.

It wouldn't be ideal, especially with the recent investment in Davenport.
