Jameis Winston was offered a more lucrative deal by the Pittsburgh Steelers, per source. In the end, he decided to learn under Drew Brees and Sean Payton

One of the phonies responses, immediately after the game, to a reporter in the history of sports on broadcast television. That never took place. He made the entire exchange up to make it all seem more dramatic - as usual for Shamus, it backfired. He's a phony.

Maybe he is starting to mature? Maybe?
Regardless, he scares me to death with his career accomplishments of carelessness with the football.

Most backups are either turnover machines without the upside or over conservative trash. To at least have talent is a great start.

I'm still trying to come to terms we actually signed him. Are we really that desperate?

Not desperate
Just like people bitching about the 7th round pick
He is a back up on a 1 year deal

Maybe he wanted a shot at revenge.

I’m certainty not a Winston fan, but cannot ignore the talent. The guy led the league in passing yards this season. Think about that. If his name was not Winston & someone told you the Saints new backup QB was the passing yards leader, you would be thrilled.

Yes, the guy is a turnover machine, but I have to believe that Sean & Drew can correct a lot of his errors. He had an eye issue & had lasik after the season. Was that a factor ?

He was the #1 pick five years ago, so money should not be an issue. He and his agent have to look at the Bridgewater journey and realize this was the path to take. Of it works out for Winston, it is a win for the Saints. Guessing $5M max for one year, so a pretty good deal all around. The guy is only 26, so who knows, he could be the heir to Brees.

I’m gonna let it play out.

This is the most intriguing part for me. This issue seems to go all the way back to his time at FSU. Really curious to see if helps.

You’re glossing over the character concerns

There's no need to abase Brett Favre. He's retired.

I can't speak for him, but in my case I don't really have character concerns as much as I have concerns with the on field play. Less worried about the inevitable bouts of immaturity and more worried about the inevitable bouts of turnoveritis.

Jamarcus Russell was also the #1 pick.

JaMarcus wasn’t broke at the end of his contract either.
