Was talking to Charlie Ward

More from Winston: "I wanted to put my ego aside-put the money to the side-to think about my family, think about my career. And there was no better position than to be in the same room with someone I’ve really looked up to, I’ve admired since I’ve been playing ... in Drew Brees."

Also said "That's like a Harvard education in quarterback school.”

Dude is ready to learn and get to work.

he just got a huge dose of humble pie and he might have realized he can't get by on talent alone anymore

I really think this is brilliant. You get one year to see what you have. If it works, you’ve got your QB. If it doesn’t work, we grab Aaron Rogers because LeDouche ran him off.

If that's how he truly feels, he has a legit shot of turning his career around.

frick Rodgers. He's nearing the end and is a huge douche.

Looking long term I'd rather 6-10 years of Taysom or 10-14 years of Winston over 2-3 years of Rodgers on the decline.

If we're trying to grab a qb that may not be with his team long I'd rather Stafford over Rodgers.

Welcome my man! Learn and grow and replace Brees when he hangs his cleats up!

It’s public knowledge after that ESPN article last year that Rodgers is a locker room can we. He’s a prick to all his coaches and teammates. He’s not a leader. I would never want that clown at the saints.

It’s like buying a lottery ticket based on the length and amount of the contract. You spend a dollar or two on a lottery ticket and you possibly win millions. If you don’t match any numbers, it’s no big deal bc it didn’t cost much. With Winston, you sign the league leader in yards and TDs and overlook the other stats bc it’s one year and not much money. If he learns from Drew and coach and Drew retires, you have a good QB moving forward or you give the job to Hill and now you have a good trade piece and it didn’t cost you much of anything. I think it was a great pick up.

Couldn’t agree more. If he soaks it all in, improves, he becomes a top 15 QB and starts over Taysom. In 2-3 years, if Payton works his magic, Winston could be a top 10 QB.

The only downside to this situation is the Saints fix him and make him a top 10-15 QB in the league and then he goes to another NFC team. But you obviously can't think that far ahead. It was too good to pass on at the moment.

It's only a 1min/22sec but that's a great interview. I could be wrong but he looks genuinely excited about being a teammate with Drew Brees and a QB under Sean Payton an our coaches. He acknowledges exactly where he's at in his career, and wants to come here and put in the time to learn how to prepare from HOF QB and put in work and be a good teammate and earn his next opportunity.

Winston going to be great here... SP getting another QB to mold ...we forget Brees a product of SP ... shoulder injury or not he wasn’t on a Hall of Fame trajectory....

Yes and no. As much as Payton helped Brees, Brees also helped Payton. He already had the work ethic but had a poorly run team around him. A few years he put up pretty good numbers over there still.

Then the Chargers drafted his replacement and sent him packing when he got injured and that put a huge chip on his shoulder.

Payton did a great job building an offensive line and putting some skill pieces around him, and has a great offensive scheme. Brees just so happened to be about as perfect a fit for that scheme as he could have hoped.

I think it's VERY fair to say neither would have been nearly as successful without the other.

Agree with everything you said except this...the Chargers were a great team honestly... Brees was consider the weak link...I think after Brees they were 14-2 , 12-4, 12-4
