I always worry about mobile quarterbacks
with our defense (even though the D has improved dramatically). I worry about those one or two huge plays.

He's getting better every week it seems, but that offensive line is really bad. He's practically running for his life half the time. I expect we win by 17+

Maybe. But maybe not.

If he does it will be with his legs on a couple of broken plays. Lattimore will shut down Fitz, as big possession WR's are what he excels against, and Apple can handle Kirk. They Edmonds won't be able to run against us, and DJ is likely out.

Russel Wilson is what Murray could be at peak potential, and he threw it all over the field against us, but his weapons are way better, and it didn't result in points.

More than Tribisky and Minshaw, but less than Wilson and Watson...come to think of it, the only non-running QB we faced happened to be the only game we lost. I think we will be fine.

The biggest problem we will face is the board will be bitching about the lack of sacks because against mobile QBs the DEs focus more on maintaining the pocket. And, especially against a young QB you want him to prove he can beat you from the pocket.

I would expect some big plays from his feet.

Then Kiko will make him reconsider

I hate athletic rookie(young) QBs! As a Saints fan I’ve seen too many have success against the Saints.

2012 Home Opener vs. Redskins (RGIII’s first NFL game) Loss
2015 Titans v Saints (Marcus Mariotta rookie year) OT loss
2015 Buccaneers v Saints (Crablegs Winston rookie year) 7 point loss
2012 49ers v Saints (Colin Kapernick 1st year starting) 10 point loss
2013 Saints @ Seattle (R. Wilson’s 2nd year) Playoff game I won’t talk about
2013 Saints @ Jets (Rookie Geno Smith of all people) Saints lose by 6
2010 Browns @ Saints (Rookie Colt McCoy) saints lost by 13
2000 Saints @ Philly (Donovan McNabb’s 2nd year) lost by 2 TDs
2003 Saints @ Jags (Rookie Byron Leftwich) Saints lose by 1 point
2006 Redskins @ Saints (Jason Campbell’s rookie year) Loss
2001 Playoffs against Vikings (Daunte Culpepper’s 2nd year) Loss
2001 falcons @ Saints (Michael Vick as a rookie) Saints take an L
1999 Browns @ Saints (Tim Couch as a rookie) 60 yard Hail Mary as time expires for Cleveland’s first win ever as a new franchise.

I know this is a different team. But I’m a long time Saints fan and just a little snake bit.

I'm more concerned about 4-5 receivers running sandlot routes at the same time with 2nd-3rd string CBs covering them.

I see him being a mild headache at worst ,but he doesn't have enough pieces on offense take over this game and be a huge problem. I am sure our D will be able to contain him and is disciplined enough not to let him get loose.

I cannot wait for Kiko to get a clean look at Cam's blindside on a delayed blitz in a few weeks.

The ends are going to pass rush the same way they did against Minshew. Up the field and hold position, keeping him in the pocket. If he beats us as a pocket passer, we’ve got issues.

I think he'll play well, but I'm not as nervous as I have been with young QBs in the past. this is not the team that got shellacked by RG3. These guys take care of business.

This is a lot of cherry picking. Trubisky was an athletic young QB on Sunday.

His scrambling ability will be a PITA. The two biggest offensive outputs against our defense were from Watson and Wilson.

Not really if you go back and look at the rookie QBs we’ve played in their first game against us. Cam Newton was the only rookie athletic QB I saw we beat first go-round.

Not a rookie or second year player either. Plenty of film on Trubisky.
It’s the new unknown athletic guys we tend to have issues with.

Probably.

Historically, we make rookie QBs look like future HOFers.

This year may be different.

He’s only really good when he’s scrambling. I expect we’ll take a similar approach that we did to Minshew. Collapse the pocket slowly without getting too far up field or letting him get outside. Make him stand tall in the pocket and make 2nd or third reads without being to scramble and he’ll crumble

Don’t get me wrong, I think he’s super talented and I think he’ll make some plays but he’ll make plenty of mistakes too. I think we win 31-17. Their D has played better but they’re still not a great unit, especially if you lock down Chandler Jones and can exploit their other Linebackers in coverage.
