Wild Card round playoff discussion & predictions thread (Saints Talk version)

Is it cool to have a Saints Talk version of this thread? Think it's interesting given that we're particularly interested in the Rams/Falcons game and how that could effect a potential NFCD and NFCCG game.
AFC
Titans at Chiefs: Chiefs are heavy favourites (10 points) and no reason to think they won't win as they've seemed to bounce back. The cold weather should hurt the Titans more than Kansas City. Chiefs 27 Titans 13
Bills at Jaguars: Jags heavy 9 point favourites - Bills lost Shady McCoy late in Week 17 and is questionable for this game. The Jags should be in full on beast mode and should be able to play it safe with Bortles. I can't wait to bet on Jacksonville next week at Pittsburgh. Jags 24 Bills 9
Falcons at Rams: Rams are 6.5 favourites at the old Coliseum. A lot of people might pick Atlanta to pull the upset here, but if you've watched the Rams all season long there's no tangible reason to doubt Goff any longer. He matched Wentz step for step in that huge game against Philly late in the season. He outplayed Brees in an equally big game just before that one. He's legit and the Rams have the same mojo this season that Atlanta had last season. Advantage on both lines, in the secondary, and on special teams will be huge. I like Gurley and that offensive line to pummel Atlanta's soft-ish run defense. Los Angeles pulls away late. Rams 34 Falcons 20
Carolina at Saints: Saints are 6.5 point favourites and already a lot of the sharp gamblers are taking Carolina and the points. The Saints' offense hasn't looked quite right a little bit too often, especially down the stretch. So many opportunities to put games away have gone by the wayside (@ Falcons, Jets, Bucs) over the past month of the season. The Saints' defense and raucous fanbase need to step up in order to hold back the dangerous Panthers. I say they just barely manage it with a last-second FG. Saints 23 Panthers 21

I think you nailed this one.
I am afraid of how the money is reacting right now.

The thing is that a lot of outsiders still don't realize how solid our defense is. We have one of the best CB tandems and secondaries in the league. Newton and his WR corps aren't as equipped to beat us as many playoff teams would be (ditto for Philly and maybe even Minnesota). That's what I always try to remember when listening to the "experts" predict Saints games. They overrate our offense and underrate our defense.
The biggest concern is obviously Olsen and McCaffery out of the backfield v's our linebackers, but hopefully Vaccaro will be back and can help. Also, Olsen is now like older Jeremy Shockey in that he seemingly gets hurt every series (not every game, every series).
Newton will have to be the MVP if Carolina is going to win IMO. He can totally do it, but I think it's less than 50/50.

I thought KV was on IR?

I expect we will sell out to the run and TE tree.

You are such a fricking idiot! I wish your stupid arse would get ran over by a damn bus or something so nobody would have to listen to your stupidity anymore.

What are the chances we give him the Talib v Grahm treatment and put either Crawley or Lattimore on him all game? The other one should be able to handle Funchess; hell PJ could handle Funchess since he doesn't run speed routes, and his double moves aren't very clean.

Disagree. Our defense is not solid without Okafor, Klein, and Vacarro. With those 3, our Defense ranked #8 in the NFL in total D, 5th in points allowed. We lost Okafor and dropped to 15th. Lost Klein and Vaccaro and dropped to 17th. We gave up 455 yards and 31 points to the Bucs, and 15 of 19 third down conversions. Sorry friend, that’s not solid at all!

Wait, what? Where did you get those numbers from?
Ah, I see. You're crediting the entire Redskins game as being without Okafor even though he was injured well into the 4th quarter (defense actually performed better without him in that one)
It also very much takes into account 2 games without Lattimore along with a game without Crawley against the #1 scoring offense in the NFL. The quality of offenses and QBs faced greatly increased after your randomly selected point too
We've also been without Okafor's backup the past month. We need Hendrickson to play

This is surprisingly good analysis coming from you.

I’m not too worried about Carolina because we matchup extremely well with them. They don’t have any real playmakers outside of CM. Funchess is OK. Olsen is obviously good but not explosive. See the Saints winning by 7-10 points

Stop being such a dick. I have a lot of stuff going on and missed that KV was put onto IR.

It really sucks that the saints have to play a division rival in the first round

I think under the circumstances, what the defense has done this year is remarkable. I was a skeptic during the win streak cause of some of the matchups they drew but at the same time, they continued to play better than I thought they would. Basically I wasn't enjoying what has been the best part of our turnaround this year.
The O-line being banged up for most of the year has been a concern but other than Mike Thomas and Ted Ginn, the WR's haven't helped out much in the passing game. They may be good blockers when someone else has the ball but at some point they'll need to do more if we are going to make a run. Never thought I'd say it but it would be nice to have Fleener around on Sunday. He's had some pesky games against Carolina before (last year) anyway where he proved to be a redzone weapon. don't forget the revenge narrative. Atlanta absolutely embarrassed them last year out there.
then again, we did as well only we played them at home last year.
But then this year had it not been for Cam Jordan playing so well, I don't think we hang with the Rams at all in that game.
I wouldn't put it past McVay to try and show off with some fancy play calls against ATL like he did against us. I think the Rams pinch one out with a late interception of Matty Ice. Rams 24 Falcons 20

It sucks with Okafor and Klein. I don't hate Vaccaro as a player, but don't really care much for him either. If I had the chance to do magic and heal 2 of the 3, it would be Klein and Okafor.
