Why was Marques Colston better at scoring TD’s than Michael Thomas?

Colston scored 72 TD’s during his career compared to 35 for Michael Thomas. That’s more than 100% more for Colston. This was despite having less than 50% more catches (720) than Thomas (526).
Apparently Colston was better at getting in the end zone.

Injuries and colston had drew prime

He played a greater portion of his snaps in the redzone than MT13.

Colston had 22 TDs from 20+ yards out. People forgot how well he could stretch the field and run after the catch
Thomas has 5 such TDs.
Majority of his TDs were near the EZ

I agree with prime Drew Brees. That was a big deal.

Because colston in the seam was money. Dude was bigger than an average wr and faster than an average te.
Complete mismatch vs any linebacker, safety, or nickel

Prime Drew. And ballsy/cocky CSP.
By the time MT13 came around, Drew wasn’t throwing bombs like he did to Devery and Morgan and CSP had been neutered by the commish.

Payton was washed up in his last few seasons

Was this supposed to be a difficult question?

Injuries for Thomas. Colston had prime Drew

He was thrown to more often. Did drop quite a few if defender touched him.

MT has had a lot of injuries
MC had a better overall Offense around him. OL was best we ever had. We had a great run attack then. Balance opens up everything.

He had Drew as his QB and he wasn't constantly doubled like MT13 is most snaps and oh 2 yrs of injuries will hurt production

Defenses were different back then and the Payton offense was better at exploiting their weaknesses

In addition to what other posters said, our running game had been stupid good during Mike's all pro seasons. Kamara and Ingram/Murray with Taysom.

Not really. Colston had 1099 targets and a 64.7% catch percentage compared to MT's 741 and 76.1%. Based on how MT is utilized in the offense, there is no guarantee he would have an extra 36 TDs with an extra 350+ targets
There is also a reason MT was often referred to as slant boy. If played into his greatest strength (hands & body placement), as well as Brees' (accuracy). There were times that MT running a slant seemed to be damn near unstoppable.

He ran more than just slants
