Thread after thread whining Allen hasn’t been fired yet but why? What would firing him today accomplish? Maybe the team can rally and get a top 10 pick instead of top 5? He’s a terrible coach, it was a terrible hire and he should be released the day after the season ends. If the playoffs start and he still employed panic until then I’d just as soon lose and get a better pick

it's not going to matter who's coaching if Mickey's still calling the shots off the field

Agreed. Why watch anyway? It's one thing to block out 3+ hours on a Sunday for a good product, but you couldn't give me a ticket to spend the whole day out there at this point. Just let it melt and finally get some draft capital. This is an impossibility to fix without great drafts and rookie contracts. Fire the dude and let someone else pick the QB next year.

On the other hand, ML will find a way to move from pick 4 to pick 2 and mortgage the next 3 drafts to do it. The guy will have a cannon of an arm but somehow never won the big game. Cause that's what we do.

Sometimes a change in leadership can spark new life. Ultimately, Loomis is the change required but it does not appear his head is on the chopping block for now.

Everyone knows he needs to go. Why delay it?

Do we really want this team to "rally" and win a little bit and get a lower draft pick with Allen at the helm and have some people (including the front office) use it as a reason to keep Allen around longer?

This team and front office just lingers like a damn fart. They're indecisive and can't face the reality that this team is in a bad spot across the board. It's time to trade everyone, blow it up and restart. This ignoring/kicking the can down the road mentality on the roster/salary cap thing worked when you had Brees and Payton doing what they did every year. This team doesn't have the coaching or the leader to continue to justify it.

That said, WHO DAT. I can't wait to watch them kick the shite out of the Panthers Sunday.

I hear you, and there is some logic too it, but delaying a coaching decision can make things far far far worse in a lot of ways.

Unfortunately the Panthers might be about the only team the Saints can beat right now.

Because it’s the middle of the season. You are not getting a permanent replacement unless it’s someone already on the staff so you’re just gonna have to fire the interim later and run the risk of rallying the team and winning 6-7 games instead of 4-5 and hence a worse draft pick.

I don’t see how it’s indecisive. The cap strategy has inevitably lead to an old expensive roster. That doesn’t get fixed by firing the coach in week 8 because they lost again. It also doesn’t get fixed in one off season. Redoing Kamara is a bad sign

How so? If you go 2-3 weeks into the off season sure but what advantage is gained by firing Allen now? It’s not gonna help getting a better coach given the roster and cap situation the Saints are not going to get a top name anyway. So you have to hope you find a guy like they did with Payton

That’s exactly what I don’t want. Get a top 5 pick and a new coach in the offseason

Sometimes things can get toxic in many ways beyond just the football field. Sometimes it just helps a franchise move on and clearly indicate that they are going in a new direction or a rebuild.

It gives them a head start on evaluating HC candidates and putting out feelers to agents. You can make a hire before a lot of other teams if you want to.

There are a lot of things that can go wrong off the field if you keep a HC too long.

To be fair, there are a number of posters that have been calling for him to be fired on a regular basis starting February 8, 2022.

I am not one of those, I was willing to at least give him 1-2 years before saying they should move on...unless they are using him as the scapegoat while working through the cap situation knowing they will struggle to field a competitive team.

At some point results have to matter or complete apathy sets in on the franchise.

I can see this logic. I agree you aren't going to find the permanent replacement now and you do run the risk of the team rallying behind an interim who's already on the staff. It's certainly a risk.

I'll counter by offering this. The reason they would rally around someone else on the staff is because the guy in charge was not cutting it. Get rid of the problem now and don't let this toxic environment fester the rest of the season.

I spoke poorly. Indecisive may have been the wrong word to convey what I am trying to say. Ultimately they make very poor decisions. They continually chose to push the consequences of these poor decisions further and further down the road so they don't have to address them. It's always a future problem. It's not sustainable and there's no need to continue it.

Sometimes it can get so toxic it will extend beyond the season and into other seasons.

Just axe him and get it over with

Allen has no business developing guys that he won't be coaching next season.

I wanted him fired a year ago. I want him fired now. I will not watch a single play until he's gone.

I always thought it was a poor hire. I wanted to fire him after last year. I predicted he would last two years when he was hired, but the easiest schedules in Saints history floated him longer than I thought.

I don’t care now, seasons over. Think most fans are just scared, me included, that he wins a few in a row and then our genius gm thinks he’s back on the road to bring Belicheck again.

His ego is so huge, it will be hard for him to admit he was so wrong.

because this isn't going to keep happening. They aren't gonna go 2-15. He's going to get lucky and win games down the stretch. We have an easy schedule. My guess is that if we don't fire him now, we will go 7-10 or 6-11.

Do you really think Mickey is gonna fire 7-10 DA? Because I don't. I'll gladly take the risk of a "worse" draft pick by firing him now and having Rizzi be the interim and potentially win some games as opposed to risking keeping him for another offseason

It’s been too long since we’ve had a top 10 pick, we always manage to screw it up in the end.

Let Allen finish this year, hopefully we can get a top 5 pick
