I’d be afraid we’d promote somebody who does well, the team goes to ownership and says we want this guy, then we end up with Antonio Pierce. And we continue to follow the Raiders playbook.

I've seen enough. I can't even watch the games anymore. Some of the most boring and uninspiring football since Jim Haslet was the coach.

Sometimes it just helps a franchise move on
This sounds more like just wanting them to do “something” now just to do “something”. Just let the season play out.

There are a lot of things that can go wrong off the field if you keep a HC too long.
Like what for example? We might lose more games
We are talking about 2 months not 2 years. Anything bad about keeping Allen leaves with him, preferably Jan 6 2025.

It gives them a head start on evaluating HC candidates and putting out feelers to agents. You can make a hire before a lot of other teams if you want to.
There is nothing stopping the GM from “evaluating” potential HC at any time. As far as “feelers” or contacting agents I would think that would be tampering at this point.

I’ll never understand the mindset of thinking it’s a good idea to encourage losing to entrench itself into the organization so that they can get a choice of one of the top unproven guys who have never played a down in the NFL as the solution.

I completely agree with this. The cap strategy was fine with Brees and they were legit SB contenders. I can even see it the next year to see if maybe you had something with Winston but it should have ended there. However I do see keeping Allen the remainder of the season is as the see issue. Now if they don’t make a move 2-3 weeks after the season is over that would be different but to just let him coach out the season doesn’t matter.

Get rid of the problem now and don't let this toxic environment fester the rest of the season.
This is a nonsensical analogy to me. A “ toxic” environment is not literal. It’s not like some kind of chemical waste that I will get worse if left for 2 more months. What ever toxic element is due to Allen it will be gone when he’s gone, we seen countless examples across sports. Wait to fire Allen after the season won’t make the team environment worse. Which brings me back to my original point. Do you really want to fix it now and win a few more games? I’d rather go 4-13 than 7-10/8-9 myself. I’m not sure this a great QB draft plus the Carr contract creates issues so take BPA Hunter or the best OL man and you have better picks in the later rounds.
Firing Allen now is rearranging deck chairs on the Titanic imo. The team needs to get younger/cheaper, that will take time, you might even need another coaching change before iltbey are really ready.

Programs develop a culture. Right now, it is a culture of losing. People get used to it and start to expect it. Once the players expect to lose the franchise is effed and will take years to rebuild.
You ditch Allen now to show that losing here is not the culture and won't be tolerated. If you have players on this team that do not mind tanking, then they are too far gone and will never do what it takes to win a super bowl.

Why do people want to fire Allen NOW!?
Many want to have hope NOW and not drag out a terrible season any further and which still could end in Loomis sticking with him another year or he uses the Loomis extension wand.

You honestly think that can be stopped by firing the coach today vs 2 months from now?
A new full time HC won’t be hired till after the season regardless. a new culture wouldn’t start until the offseason anyway.

So you’d rather go 7-10 instead of 4-13 in other words, which is fine but is that really giving you “hope”?

So basically it’s just anxiety that if they don’t fire him today they won’t fire him at all.
The bad news is that the problems are deeper than just the coach. It’s going to take a couple of years to fix the roster

I think keeping a loser around does zero good. Why let it continue? Being bad at your job will not be tolerated in the organization. No, you won't be allowed to ride it out because a mid-season firing will be an inconvenience.
It is a bad organization, and I do not expect them to fire him mid-season. Hell, he might stick around another year.

In the hope I meant firing him now instead of later.
