Why do Jared Cook and Latavius Murray suck so bad?

Also, Dallas first 3 opponents have a combined record of 1-8, the Saints first 3 opponents have a combined record of 7-2.

The same could be said for Cook and his target share. They need time to get more comfortable in Payton's system.

I agree. Brees being out definitely isn't going to help him get comfortable, though. I expect him to have a bigger role later down the stretch.

We missed on this one. Murray is finesse heavier runner if that makes sense. He will not give you 3 & 3 on a consistent basis like Ingram falling forward for 3 yards.
I really believe we missed on Murray and I’m optimistic on Cook.

I think Murray is kind of like Petersen was for us. He needs touches to get going, but his running style also may not fit our lineman’s blocking tendencies.
Ingram ran fast into the hole.
Kamara kinda slides to the outside until he finds a hole.
Murray hesitates then looks for a hole to bust through. He is also taller, so he runs almost upright.
I think he’s good on the right team. We may or may not be that team. Only time and touches will tell.

The game plan changed when Brees got injured. Murray was supposed to be our ball control guy. Kamara takes pressure off of TB. Cook hasn't lived up to expectations yet but I see him having more chances regardless.

Because Sean peyton doesnt try to use them. I love AK, but they are going to ruin him for the end if they dont spread the touches out.

Murray doesn't suck.
Jared Cook was never taught to play the game. He relies solely on athleticism.
Watching him run routes and not getting his head around is painful. He looks lost out there because he is.

Murray is averaging 4 YPA.
He has 13 carries which is a use issue. If we'd use him like we used Ingram, I think he'd be good.
As for Cook, only 3 people have more catches than him. MT13 has more than 1/3 of the total completions by the Saints this year.

We'll have to pull out the most creative gameplan this week that involves Murray. We cannot let AK41 get killed out there again vs them. Murray needs to be involved in both run & passing plays or else we become one-dimensional and predictable.
If Teddy doesn't take chances this game and he checks down on every play, we lose.
